I recently had the pleasure of staying at a delightful hostel in Salento, and it was an experience to remember. Nestled in the picturesque Cocora Valley, the hostel offers stunning views of lush green hills, towering wax palms, and vibrant landscapes that are perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the exceptional staff. Sandra, Hans, Olga, Helena, Óscar, and Mariana went above and beyond to make my visit special. Their warm and friendly demeanor made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. Sandra’s local insights and Hans’s enthusiasm for the area’s natural beauty were invaluable. Olga and Helena were always ready with a smile and helpful advice, ensuring I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Óscar and Mariana added a personal touch with their wonderful recommendations for local eateries and hidden gems around Salento. The hostel itself is cozy and inviting, with clean and comfortable accommodations that cater to a variety of travelers. The common areas are perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the Cocora Valley, where you can enjoy breathtaking hikes and take in the awe-inspiring scenery. If you’re planning a trip to Salento, this hostel is a must-stay. This has been one of our best travel experiences. The entire team are exceptional hosts - warm, friendly, attentive. They work so hard to make this a nice stay for everyone, no matter your age or background. La Masia has different types of rooms, and we had one of the smaller standard rooms. It was cozy and peaceful, and the space outside is just fabulous. There are multiple benches and hammocks to hang out, or you just roam the beautiful garden with its trees full of birds, or have a chat with one of the staff (which was possible despite our bad Spanish!) They also have a good kitchen, with a hearty Colombian breakfast in the morning and solid Colombian dishes in the evening. And someone is always there to make you a coffee or tea in the afternoon and tell you to relax. Note that this hotel is located a bit outside of the town of Salento - but that makes it even better. You will not find the same peace in the town after a day of hiking or exploration. It's absolutely worth paying an Uber/ Taxi. There is a kiosk nearby where you can buy snacks and water, or you walk to the main road to grab a bite. It's a safe and village-like community where everyone greets you on the way. Thank you, Diego, Joanna and Jon and the entire team - we hope to come back one day.

    The glamping is in the midst of beautiful nature. You can see and hear the birds chirp in the morning while you sip on a delicious cup of coffee or hot chocolate. From the glamping, you can hike for 20 minutes and arrive at a beautiful waterfall in the middle of the jungle mountain. The glamping itself is gorgeous, you can watch the stars at night through the crystal ceiling. The place is also ecological and has a commitment to sustainability. For example, you can participate and plant a seed of the iconic and endangered wax palm tree. The glamping is also super clean and very comfortable. You can book lovely tours/things to do with the hotel. We had a bird-watching experience early in the morning with an amazing and knowledgeable guide. And, also had some amazing coffee massages at the wellness area. Overall, we had a fantastic and unforgettable stay!

    Beautiful small town nested in the Coffee growing region.

    Beautiful small town nested in the Coffee growing region. Great location to explore around other towns, and the famous Cocora Valley. I am not sure if Salento or Filandia was used as the inspiration for Encanto (the movie). Calle Real in Salento is full of small arts and crafts stores and plenty of restaurants to choose from. We spent 2 night there and thought it was the right amount of time. We ate dinner at El Patio which had live music, good food and service. Had lunch at Casa Willy’s (jeep) great food and good service too. You can walk around and it is very safe. My only recommendation is try not to drive into Salento at night, very dark, narrow road with tons of sharp curves, this drive at night is only for people experienced in driving in Colombia. Driving there at daylight is not an issue.

    Filandia is a very nice town, with attractive architecture, good restaurants, and good people. Among the good restaurants, we liked "Casa /bohio Taino" and "Elena Adentro" an amazing place to eat and have good drinks.

    Most importantly clean, and felt safe with my family. The hotel was beautiful and affordable. The staff was great, and helpful. The only cons were the air conditioning didn’t work while we were there, which is common, and the menu would have gotten old if our stay was longer, but still delicious. The bar and bar staff were great as well. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re planning a trip to this area.

    This is an area that is absolutely beautiful to explore. If you are to stay in this location be prepared to bring your own food for making meals. We errored in not thinking ahead and the distance to a grocery store is long with curvy roads. If you have entomophobia this is not the place to be. We saw some marvelous butterflies, and huge roaches and even had an Aguti in the backyard. Our family enjoyed the warm weather, swam in the pool, and had a very enjoyable vacation. Within an hour's ride, there is an amusement park, zoo, and next door an interactive ranch with shows, and animals to interact with.

    The town is not ready to take any type of tourists. No decent restaurants, no heath facility, many places don’t take US dollars neither credit cards. No bank facilities during the weekends. No tourist attractions, dirt on the street many unpaved roads. Lack of sidewalks, no rental car services.

    Scenery, shopping, dining, culture, excursions to Valle de Cocora, horseback riding, photo opportunities, charming, colorful buildings, a close bus ride from Pereira. And don't miss all of the coffee shops. You will find a favorite. You are in the coffee axis!

    Perfect city to stay that are close to parks and cities of Salento and Filandia. I recommend, if you don't have a car, to stay at avenida Bolivar region, it has lots of options of things to do and it save a lot transportation time.

    Filandia is a charming town that is not to be missed!

    Filandia is a charming town that is not to be missed! More people head to Salento (which we stopped at on our way to the Cocora Valley), but Filandia is the clear winner. Even smaller and more charming, with a luscious park in the square and beautifully decorated streets. I would have stayed 3 nights instead of 2.

    Salento is beautiful- a picturesque, Jurassic like gateway to the Cocora valley. Really chill town- great food- clean and safe. All around great vibes- especially at my Hilltop Hostal. Sunsets are spectacular from the jacuzzi and wrap around deck.
