- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 333 reviewsAfter a week of running around sightseeing here and there, I arrived on Magnetic Island hoping most of all for rest and relaxation, and Tropical Palms was absolutely perfect for that! Rob welcomed me warmly in spite of my failure to properly communicate a late arrival, and gave lots of tips on where to go for walks to spot wildlife. My room was comfortable and clean, and overall the place was really lovely, laid-back and peaceful. I was glad I'd picked the location by Picnic Bay, which is probably the most quiet part of the island. There's nevertheless a nice selection of restaurants nearby, and a nice beach, and koalas live right next doors! Loved it!Guest review byVelmaFinland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 620 reviewsWe had an amazing time on magnetic island staying at island leisure resort! The team was lovely, they made us feel very welcomed and gave us many useful tips. The pool area in the resort is a nice place to relax and in general all the common areas are very inviting. The room was spacious and clean and the kitchen featured everything we needed. Location is great as well, close to the ferry and some supermarkets. The bus stop is right in front of the resort and makes it super easy to get around the island. Overall had a perfect stay and would come back here anytime! Thanks for having usGuest review byAnnaGermany
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 1,078 reviewsThe room was nice and clean and modern. It was like a studio apartment with a full fridge and a microwave. The pool was really great for getting out of the mid-day heat. We were there during a quiet time of year, but there wasn't really anyone else ever at the pool at the same time as us. The aircon was really nice and the bed was comfy. Lots of wildlife around.Guest review byCamilleUnited States

A great location for visiting Magnetic Island.
A great location for visiting Magnetic Island. Bakery was a gem and the cafe opposite the accommodation. The island bus was excellent costing $1 for travelling on it more than once during the day. Lots of great scenic walks.Guest review byKerryAustralia - 10.0

Magnetic Island is beautiful with bush trails to many beaches and vantage points. The flora is wonderfully diverse with giant banyan trees, tropical plants, vines and gum trees - wild koalas are easy to spot on some of the trails. The vibe is low key and nicely humble and it's very easy to get to via Townsville and a short ferry ride. You don't need a car as the bus runs regularly across the island to all the best places. There are also plenty of options for scooter and jeep hire.Guest review byJaneAustralia - 10.0
Loved the area.
Loved the area. Felt a very secluded part of the island, so we just loved that. Beautiful right on the beachfront. No road in front, completely relaxing, felt very different than other parts of the island.Guest review byDeeAustralia - 8.0

By taking our car over on the barge we could travel around the island to the different beaches. It has some lovely places to see, some can only be accessed by car. The bus service appeared popular with people to get around the main three bays on the island. Great relaxing holiday destination.Guest review byFionaAustralia - 10.0

Nelly Bay is a beautiful, low-key, welcoming and relaxing place. Walking along the path through the marina was a favourite. We loved running and walking along the Gabul pathway with the view of Geoffory Bay at the top. Cafe Del Sol has amazing coffee and great, relaxed atmosphere - a great way to start the day. Buses were the best way to get around the island.Guest review byBaker - 10.0
Of all the beautiful bays at Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay...
Of all the beautiful bays at Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay is by far the nicest one. It has great open views of the ocean, a long beach front with beautiful palms and trees providing the necessary shade, and a small but lively little boulevard with a well-assorted local Convenience Store, a few nice beachy shops and a good range of bars and restaurants that offer something for everyone. I specially recommend Barefoot Restaurant and Gallery, which is something you might not expect on a location like this, but they have some beautiful artwork and their food is truly exceptional. All in all, Horseshoe Bay just has that nice chilled island vibe that you're looking for on your vacay.Guest review byCindyAustralia - 8.0

We did the Hawkins Bay walk very steep need good fitness but the view was very rewarding once you reached the top. The Jetty is great both day and the lights are lovely at night time. We ate at the R & R hotel great meals beautiful fish tank and the service was great too. Also you must visit the Museum.Guest review byJoanne - 10.0
The motel is well situated next to the pub for meals.
The motel is well situated next to the pub for meals. You can walk to the beach. Great local busses. Plenty excursions if you want them. Motel not five star but clean and not to expensive and you are on Magnetic island it’s like going back in time. Paradise.Guest review byJaneAustralia - 10.0
We love all of Magnetic Island.
We love all of Magnetic Island. Go to the toad races, Alma is the best beach to swim in. Eat at Thai again. Do the jet skis. Do a snorkel boat tour. Eat the crepes. SOS is great. IGA has everything you'll need. Sadly the scooters have changed brands and are no longer reliable, hopefully that changes. Magnetic taxis are great and reliable and the buses are easy. Go to the helped, there's heaps of rock wallabies there, take them some carrots and they'll eat them from your hand. They will let you pat them while eating. The pool at peppers is the best! Horseshoe Bay paddle boards and kayaks are a wonderful hour on the water. The owner is a great guy. The Sunday market is tired though and needs more stalls. The golf is great at picnic bay and barefoot social bowls on Tuesday is fun for all the family. If you want a beautiful relaxing holiday Go Magnetic Island. Recommend May to September.Guest review byClompieAustralia - 8.0
Horseshoe Bay is at the northern end of Magnetic Island.
Horseshoe Bay is at the northern end of Magnetic Island. It’s not as windy as some of the other bays. And it’s a good spot to do walks from, like the Forts Walk. There is a long stretch of beach to walk on and explore. And lots of water activities to enjoy.Guest review bySharonAustralia
