Cairns is lively and very touristy its ok Be prepared to be disappointed Mossman Gorge dont bother very controlled and you are not allowed to really walk they are not happy as it is through an indigenous community You are strongly encouraged to pay $15 to take a bus to the gorge In addition most of the areas visited are conveniently closed to the public for supposed your safety and repairs taking many months Examples Lake Placid Barron Gorge I grew up here came back to visit it is no longer free to walk around your own country The islands such as fitzroy not bad but again very crowded Its worth a look but be prepared to find it too crowded and commercialGuest review byAlfred - 10.0

Palm Cove had a laid back vibe, great beaches and views and lots of places to eat. The restaurants were good quality with plenty of seating. There are numerous spas for massages and treatments and some beachy clothes shops. A shopping centre with a Coles supermarket was only a few minutes drive away.Guest review byMelindaAustralia - 10.0
6 days of perfection.
6 days of perfection. Beautiful beach, enough establishments to eat somewhere different every night. We had a hire car but if you want beach resort and a day trip on a bus this is the location for you.Guest review byMichelleAustralia - 8.0

The beautiful breeze was lovely whenever I sat on a comfortable seat on the grass near the beach... We thought the views were amazing in every way we turned on the walkway across the road from the Agincourt Beachfont...We will be returning. It will most likely be in the winter though, as humidity is very high in the summer for us, as a couple from the central coast, in N.S.W. Thank you! It is close enough for a drive to Cairns, Port Douglas and other beautiful spots.Guest review byMoniqueAustralia - 6.0

The North Cairns area can be noisy because of its location near the airport. Road noise is also a concern during the day because the apartment is on the1st floor and no sound barriers between its balcony and the road nearby. Overall, though, the noise level greatly reduces in the evening and did not affect our sleeping at night.Guest review byColin J.Australia - 8.0

A good alternative to the much trendier and therefore pricier northern beaches of Trinity Beach and Palm Cove. And definitely much quieter! A comprehensive shopping strip on the main street and of course not far from the large shopping complex at Smithfield. A few restaurant options available, including the yacht club. There is a bus service into Cairns CBD, but I would recommend hiring a vehicle for your stay. Taxis are very expensive.Guest review byRuss & JulieAustralia - 10.0
If you have a hire car, Westcourt is a good place to stay.
If you have a hire car, Westcourt is a good place to stay. Away from the mad tourist traffic and late-night city noises. Just a two-minute drive to the Esplanade, Cairns Station, major shopping centre and the city centre.Guest review bySwan - 10.0
Situated close to the airport made travelling easy.
Situated close to the airport made travelling easy. Property is gated so felt safe and secure. Having a local personal contact helped with knowledge fior eating out and shopping. Situated is so convenient for visitors to Cairns and so many locally based things for visitors to Queensland.Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beautiful, quiet and relaxing (wasn’t crowded at all when we were there in June). Seems to be off the beaten path for tourists—seemed to be more locals there, so probably not typically as crowded as some of the more well known beaches. We probably wouldn’t have known about it if we weren’t staying at a house on the beach. Neighborhood is quiet and beautiful, although not a ton of beach parking for visitors. Beautiful walking path, small playground, picnic tables, incredible sunrises, sand is soft and silky, water is warm to wade in, however, swimming is not recommended due to possible crocodiles.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Cairns is busy and has a lot going on.
Cairns is busy and has a lot going on. It possibly suits younger people more. If you’re after reef trips or island trips it’s perfect. If you want a less action packed pace you should probably head to Port Douglas.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom
