We always try to stay in a boutique hotel when we travel. This ticks all the boxes from room to facilities and the most friendlies of staff. Close proximity to restaurants and if you're lucky enough to be there on a Friday, a fresh produce market in the town square just outside the front door.     The staff was very friendly (especially the lady at the check-in). We had a beautiful spacious room with a balcony that provided panoramic views of the lake. The first minibar is included, which is very nice. The bathroom was fantastic as well, very large with a beautiful sink, and a huge plus was the amazing view of the lake from the bathtub. The hotel was very clean, and the pool was also great (an added bonus: they provided swim towels in the room, very convenient). There was nothing to complain about the breakfast; you could enjoy it while overlooking the lake, and there was plenty of variety in terms of food. We had also requested a baby crib, and they had prepared it for us along with baby products. A little lower than the hotel, you can take the bus to Überlingen. There's a good connection with two buses per hour.

    This is a great place! Beautiful location, and the staff takes excellent care of it. Clean modern rooms with nice views. The restaurant offers several options for dinner and all of excellent taste. Local products are used. Great advice from the sommeliere for Austrian wines. Excellent breakfast. Huge spa area, swimming pool and garden. Hiking, biking, sightseeing - lots of options nearby. Staff is polite, friendly and well-trained.

    I was very happy that I decided to stay for 2 nights at Seehotel Adler. The location of the hotel was perfect. Especially after the snow, it looked like fairy tale. Spa area is superb and clean. The morning breakfast was wholesome. I would certainly like to stay here in the future again. Unfortunately, I did not have time to try the restaurant. Not to forget, the view from the hotel roof-deck was simply breath taking.

    I only stayed 1 night, as a stop on my way to Italy. Lovely city, I will for sure go back (and likely tour the whole lake). Only downside is to get there: roads were packed as hell, with lots of traffic jams. Much like the Italian lakes.

    We were in Bregenz on the 23rd and 24th of August 2025. It was a coincidence that the Hafen Fest was on those days, and I cannot judge what is Bregenz usually like. For us there were too many people on the lake shore... but I know some people love this. The best places for me, must-sees: 1. Pfänderbahn (in good weather) 2. Lake shore (always, but especially at sunset) 3. Old downton (and Uppertown) We went everywhere on foot, and it suited us perfectly well.

    The abbey complex is the place you want to see if you are interested in history: the museum, the vault and the library are amazing and absolutely worth the visit (and the price, that is even cheap). Getting around the town is easy, both walking and using the public transportation. If you arrive by car, remember that a great part of the center is not accessible, but there are parking areas open 24/7 that cost 20 CHF for 24h.

    We visited friends here and enjoyed the views over the lake and wandering around the waterfront. The city is known for the obvious focus of boating, bathing, and relaxing, but we also found a nice, downtown with historical charm. Try the Muenster St, Nikolaus for relics and an up-close trip back in time, and then explore the old town around it.

    A little off the beaten track, but plenty to do. Boating, swimming, rent bikes and visit the towns nearby. Hop on the bus (very simple to use and covered by the hotel tourist card) to visit nearby towns, get to the train station, or the ferry station. We were able to visit Lindau-Insel on a day trip by bus/train, spend 5-6 hours there, and still made it back in time for dinner and watching the sunset over the lake. Konstanz, and Insel Mainau are easily reachable by bus/ferry.
