We’d love to leave a few kind words about our stay. It was truly a wonderful experience. We were very impressed by the location, the atmosphere, and most of all by our host Flori and his lovely family. They welcomed us with so much care, warmth, and hospitality. They waited for us until late in the evening, as we were crossing the country from south to north for the first time. On the way, they messaged us to check if we needed help or if someone should meet us. It felt very comforting. The food and breakfast were delicious. They looked after us the whole time and often asked if we needed anything. When we had a request, they helped right away. We really felt at home and very well taken care of. To be honest, we enjoyed our time here even more than by the sea. The nature, the feeling, the people – everything is so different here. It’s a peaceful and special place. We truly recommend everyone to visit. This is probably the only place from our trip that we would really love to come back to if we’re ever nearby in Albania again. We booked Valbona Relax for 3-nights to explore Valbone, and it is truly a beautiful and wonderful place. The rooms and bathrooms are kept super well, the food and break is home-made, and the water supply is fresh from the river (one of the cleanest in Albania). We look forward to visiting again. The owner, his family and employees are all wonderful.

    A Hidden Gem in the Albanian Alps – Unforgettable Experience! If you're looking for breathtaking nature, warm hospitality, and a true escape from the noise of city life—Valbona is the place to be. We spent a few nights here and were completely enchanted by the peaceful mountain landscapes, crystal-clear rivers, and the genuine kindness of the local families. The traditional guesthouses are cozy and welcoming, many run by locals who treat you like part of the family. Homemade meals, especially the fresh Albanian burek was a real highlight! There’s so much to do—from hiking to the Theth Pass, to simply enjoying a coffee by the fireplace in the cool mountain air. It’s an ideal spot for nature lovers, couples, and families looking for something authentic and off-the-beaten-path. Don’t miss Valbona if you’re planning a trip to Albania. It’s peaceful, magical, and truly unforgettable.

    The place is blessed by nature with beautiful hills and lakes but unfortunately there are plenty of trash everywhere. One must be aware that there are no taxis in the region. There are only a few hotels with international standards. Fantastic food is easy to find. Visited in Summer 2023

    This was a beautiful stay!

    This was a beautiful stay! I felt comfortable and safe as a female solo traveler and the breakfast and dinner were delicious and homemade! I would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone hiking the mountains!

    This is absolutely Not a tourist town so if you like...

    This is absolutely Not a tourist town so if you like authentic, daily life encounters this is a welcoming town. We spent a day hiking and another day driving to Peshkopia to enjoy the thermal baths and see more of the country. Kukës seems to be a very fast-growing town with lots of infrastructure improvements underway. Every evening the main street is blocked off so the town can some stroll. SO civilized. Our stay at the Gjallica Hotel was delightful and we cannot recommend it highly enough! They make the Best bread in Albania so their Pizza is also the best.

    Our hosts were super welcoming.

    Our hosts were super welcoming. They looked after us well and sorted out transport to take us to the Valbona trailhead. Food (breakfast and dinner)was exceptional. Plenty of it, home cooked and locally grown. The guest house is closer to the trailhead than most others in the village. Altogether we stayed here 4 nights and we loved it.
