It was right on the main promenade of the city where there is vibrant community life right below with restaurants, bars and cafes. We walked everywhere and the hotel was super accessible. We had an amazing view from our Bergeron where we saw the old town houses on the mountain and all the mountains around. We basically had a 180 degree view. The breakfast every morning was amazing. When you enter, the reception/breakfast room looks like an old tavern where Aragorn might sit in a corner. The receptionist is an accommodating middle-age man with a gentle voice. Breakfast is not a buffet, but it looks like buffet was brought to your table, and in addition to the classics there are some more original options (homemade cream rice!). Berat is a must see.
Berat is a must see. The people are super friendly and helpful. If you take the bus, find the bus stop to take it to the city centre. I walked 45 minutes from the bus station to the city centre. I wish someone told me I could take a bus ahead of time. When you leave, take the bus from the city centre. Berat is such a beautiful city.
Berat is such a beautiful city. If you love ancient cities with lots of character and charm you will love Berat. The cobbled alleyways with shops/restaurants and hotels hidden away in every bend was so lovely to walk through. Felt like we transported back in time. We stayed in hotel Ansel which was very well located and the hotel had free parking. The hotel also had stunning views of Berat. It was easy to walk to all the sites in Berat.
