Right on the Boulevard with a lovely park area opposite. Easy walking distance to the two historic areas of the town and to the castle. Close to numerous cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. The rooms are very well presented and have everything you need for a comfortable stay including toiletries, hairdryer and fridge. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was quiet at night. There are large windows which open and air conditioning if needed. Breakfast is served between 8am and 10am on the top floor roof terrace which has amazing views. There are both indoor and outdoor seating areas. Breakfast is plentiful including sausage, eggs, cheese pie, cereal, pastries, cakes, bread, lots of fruit, yoghurt, juices and coffee. Nestled into the mountainside of the old town, this rebuilt historic home is everything you need to experience the wonder of this UNESCO World Heritage town. Built with stone from the local mountain and solid wood everything about this guest house has been considered. Well appointed rooms with lovely clean bathrooms and great water pressure. The property is filled with beautiful flowers, gardens and trees. You really do feel tucked away. Our host Aleksander is so kind, welcoming and generous. He helped us with taxi’s, wines on the upstairs terrace, an extra pancake for our daughter to take on our walk to the castle and restaurant recommendations. Both give you wonderful views to Berat Old Town while you eat and alone for that the place is going to. The nonsmoking rooms are quiet, beautiful and clean with both air conditioning and windows you can open. Staff is extremely friendly. Breakfast is wonderful with amongst others (if you want it) fresh juice, cappuccino or expresso, fresh fruit and tomato/cucumber and the usual delicious Albanian breakfast items. Berat is a must see.
Berat is a must see. The people are super friendly and helpful. If you take the bus, find the bus stop to take it to the city centre. I walked 45 minutes from the bus station to the city centre. I wish someone told me I could take a bus ahead of time. When you leave, take the bus from the city centre. Berat is such a beautiful city.
Berat is such a beautiful city. If you love ancient cities with lots of character and charm you will love Berat. The cobbled alleyways with shops/restaurants and hotels hidden away in every bend was so lovely to walk through. Felt like we transported back in time. We stayed in hotel Ansel which was very well located and the hotel had free parking. The hotel also had stunning views of Berat. It was easy to walk to all the sites in Berat.
