Go in the morning and you can walk around inside the theatre. We were lucky enough to be there whilst the La Scala ballet were rehearsing for the opening night of Swan Lake. Really something special. The theatre museum is also worth visiting if you are an opera buff. Sumptuous theater, wonderful museum.
Sumptuous theater, wonderful museum. We attended a performance of Verdi's Ernani, it was superb, sets orchestra, costumes, glorious singing, exceptional acoustics. The same day tickets are very limited view.
The same day tickets are very limited view. You have to stand to see the stage as they are on the 5th and 6th balcony I believe. Try to get orchestra seating. The back of each seat has a screen with subtitles in Italian and English which was helpful. We got a $50 discount on each ticket for being seniors.
