The City of Bath has mobilized some public-spirited citizens go guide groups of visitors on free walking tours of the highlights of the city. They meet in the square in front of the Roman Baths. There were 5 or 6 groups of 8 to 10 people; our guide was very good. I think it was called "The Mayor's Tour" or somesuch. Check for times. Once you have returned home, try to find a very good BBC detective drama called "McDonald & Dodds." It's filmed in Bath, and Scenic Bath is very nearly the main character of the program! Our room overlooked the Abbey and we were thrilled to be able to open the windows and sit and listen to the bells from the Abbey that evening. The room was spacious, clean, tidy, furnishings lovely, bed comfortable, bathroom clean and great shower and shower pressure. After travelling for weeks, this was important to us! The room is well cared for and the bonus was a car space and easy walk across Pulteney Bridge to the city. This was a great stay and highly recommend.
