Gorgeous elevated sea view location with amazing views & a huge variety of activities in the area including walking, kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding, horse riding, sailing, canyoning, cafes, crafts & markets.
Our sea view Chalet is just a 15-20 minute walk (2-3 min drive) down to the Abel Tasman Park entrance and makes a great location for those wanting retreat space but close to the action . There are many stunning places to visit in the area. Once your reservation is confirmed, you will receive plenty of local area info.
Marahau Retreat is a restful and restorative place, not a party place. The whole property is a smoke free zone. All guests are asked to respect this lifestyle. We want everyone to have a lovely relaxing time here. Thank you :)
The Location and Land:
Marahau Retreat sits on 15 acres of land in Marahau Valley Rd, much of it is regenerating bush. It's a peaceful setting…abundant in nature, birds, insects, flowers and close to rivers and the sea.
MARAHAU RETREAT IS A SMOKE FREE ZONE Strictly no smoking anywhere on the property
We are a Kiwi and French couple with children in their twenties who visit from time to time. Living on the property with us are chooks, an adorable pug dog and a beautiful cat named Hebe. We both love animals, nature environments and travel.
Hosts Anna and Sylvain live on the property and can help with information, advice and activity reservations. English and French are spoken. Anna also runs private Soul/Meditation/Relaxation retreats and can offer Airbnb guests meditation and other services. If you are interested in this please ask Anna for more info.

Marahau is in an extraordinary location right at the entrance to the Abel Tasman, New Zealand's most popular National Park. With stunning beaches and parks all around there are endless activities in the area and many within 10-75 minute's drive including walking, kayaking, paddle boarding, nature reserves, canyoning, caves, fishing, cycling, cafes, arts-crafts and wine trails, markets and beautiful natural scenery abounds! The vibe is relaxed, free and happy.
It is best to have a car to truly explore the area however there are shuttle buses available between Marahau Retreat and Nelson Airport and it is possible to do many activities within a 10-25 minute walk from your accommodation. We can send you the links for the shuttle bus bookings.
