Boho Academy · Kamigū Villa – Newly Opened
A brand-new villa spanning 125 square meters, equipped with air conditioning and underfloor heating. Located in the heart of Kyoto, nestled between the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Arashiyama, it features a luxurious kitchen and a traditional Japanese garden.
Boho Academy · Kamigū is a cultural guesthouse situated in Kyoto’s Nakagyō Ward. Designed by a renowned Japanese architect, it draws inspiration from the unique aesthetics of the Heian period—blending traditional colors, materials, and decor with the architectural essence of shinden-zukuri (Heian aristocratic residences). It integrates these historical elements with modern amenities to create a refined space that connects past and future through an immersive cultural experience.
The construction was meticulously carried out over a year by Kyoto-based Wanoca Co., Ltd., perfectly bringing the designer’s vision to life. The garden was designed and built by Ueyakato Landscape, a Kyoto landscaping company founded in 1848. Known for their work on historic sites and heritage garden restorations, Ueyakato’s craftsmanship brings together pine and stone in seamless harmony with the villa’s design.
A stay here evokes a sense of peace and depth—“exploring the source without end, and finding stillness of heart upon arrival.”
The guesthouse sits in a traditional residential area in central Kyoto, surrounded by local buses, subway lines, shopping centers, pharmacies, convenience stores, and local favorites like restaurants, cafés, and pastry shops. It offers not only unmatched convenience for sightseeing, but also the rare chance to experience the everyday life of Kyoto residents—truly embodying the spirit of “a hidden retreat in the midst of the city.”
Mr. Ma Yuye, in recent years, has often traveled between Huang and Bai, and resides as a guest in the region of Ying and Luo. He studies acupuncture and is fond of the philosophies of the I Ching and Laozi. Over the past decade, he has established a hospital, hoping to alleviate the physical ailments of the world; engaged in elder care, wishing to care for both his own elders and those of others; and founded an academy, aspiring to ground himself in the classics, engage in worldly affairs, cultivate personal virtue, and inspire the people.
