You can easily visit the Southern areas of the Lake District, Windermere, the largest lake in the Lake District can be accessed by the M6, around an hour and a half drive for a beautiful boat ride across that Lake, and the steam train in Hasslethwait via the M6, or take the more scenic route along the coastal road. Solway Coast is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that stretches north to Carlisle and south to Allonby Bay; perfect for cycling (Hadrian’s Cycleway, Maryport–Allonby route) and walking.
