Makulu Safari Camping is a great choice to stay. Near the Udawalawe Park and in a gorgeous location next to a little river. The staff here are outstanding. Samitha looked after me with such care and grace, always making sure I was comfortable and that I had everything I needed. He took me on a lovely boat ride on the little river and pointed out birds and trees. Also a fabulous night walk. He has an incredible knowledge of Ayurvedic medicine and it is fascinating. He knows what plants and trees cure various ailments. One of the most lovely things at this place is the abundance of fireflies. You can see them in the dark so it's worth turning off your lights, sitting back and taking in the breathtaking beauty of these creatures as they dance around. I opted to do the 12 hour Safari which I think was the best choice. The first couple of hours is very busy with a lot of jeeps so having that extra time to see the elephants without other Jeeps around was really special. The driver Patou was fabulous and spotted so many birds and animals before I had even real realized they were there. This was all arranged in advance by Makulu.

The staff were fantastic and always ready to help answer any questions including “what bird is that” x 20. The staff were patient and knowledgeable and they made my experience amazing!!

This is one of the best locations I’ve visited so far. Situated in a very remote area where there’s limited access to outer world. You have to take a basic nature trail to reach the destination which my family enjoyed much. once you entered the premises it’s like you stepped into another country. Very calm and peaceful environment so we need to adopt to the destination. I recommend this place to all nature lovers who look for places where you can blend with nature. Limited electricity so prepare yourself with backups. (power banks, flashlights, ect)

This resort is an absolute gem and a must stay if you are visiting Udawalawe National Park. For an affordable price you get to stay at a luxurious glamping style resort. The rooms were clean, beautifully designed and a delight. The food was amazing from the options available to the flavour. As well the service from the staff was some of the best I’ve ever received. The big highlight from this experience was the safari we booked with the resort. If you book the safari ask for Lasantha. He is the best driver and safari tour guide ever. He really went out of his way to create the best experience for us. He is top notch!!!

Offering river views, this fan-cooled tent has a private entrance, seating area and extra large bed with spring mattress. It includes a hot water shower, towel and shoe racks. the bungalows are amazing, we loved the outdoor bathroom. Everything made with so much love. The pool facilities are clean and really nice. Staff was always nice and helpful. Perfect stay to make safari and relax for some days. We will definitly come back! :)

Dotata di una vista sul fiume Rakwana, questa struttura dista appena 3 km dall'Elephant Transit Home e offre sistemazioni rustiche in stile capanna circondate dal verde e provviste di una veranda... La posizione in riva al fiume è suggestiva, avendo preso una tenda deluxe con safari incluso. Ottima l’organizzazione.

The tent offers a private entrance, a seating area, a terrace with lake views as well as a private bathroom featuring a shower. The unit offers 3 beds. The camp environment is amazing. The staff is very friendly and cooperative.

This unique tent is set on the border of the National Park and comes with a private bathroom. We had the best two night stay here with Solomon and the boys, the staff could not have been more attentive. They organised lunch for us on our arrival which was above and beyond what we expected. The gentleman with the glasses who delivered our induction (apologies I cannot remember his name), was so friendly and welcoming, he (and the rest of the team) went above and beyond to make sure this experience was unforgettable! The food was amazing both nights, and catered to dietary requirements. We ate outside under the stars both nights which was lovely. The tent itself was perfect for our needs, the bed was comfortable and we slept very well both nights. You could hear nature which was wonderful. Solomon is a very knowledgeable and interesting man, he provided great insight into the nature around the camp very locally and also in the safari park. We booked our safari through Big Game Camp and had Solomon as our guide which we could not recommend more, he was quick at pointing out a myriad of animals, whilst also being aware that the park is a safari not a zoo so you are not guaranteed to see anything, despite this we saw many elephants, different species of birds, mongoose etc. We would recommend this to anyone travelling to Sri Lanka!!

Featuring carpet flooring, tents come with an outdoor living area and a private bathroom with hot-water showers. Includes a torch, umbrellas and a luggage rack. Superb glamping tent set up. Very luxurious and comfortable. It was huge! With two separate bedrooms and a little seating area in the front, very well furnished and exceptionally clean. Staff were incredible and very helpful, right from the moment we arrived they couldn’t do enough to help us and were extremely polite and respectful. The meals were exceptional and seemed to be conjured up from nowhere! They were served under the stars for dinner around a beautiful fire, which was so special. Then there was the safari itself, it was so magical seeing herds of elephants and their babies. Our guide and driver were so motivated to ensure we had an excellent experience and stopped at nothing to ensure this happened.
