The location is beautiful , at a river and 10 minutes by car from the park entrance. The tents are cosy, clean and with a beautiful porch. The staff is superfriendly and very concerned to meet all their guests needs, always providing fresh water and petrol lights for the night. The boat trip and the night walk they offer for free were very informative snd interesting. The food was amazing and served in s gorgeous atmosphere under the palm trees, surrounded by fires an torches. The 12 hour safari they arranged for us was perfectly organized, with breakfast and lunch they prepared for us. Thanks to all the staff for this wonderful experience while staying with you.

Really enjoyed our too short stay here. It is a bit off the beaten track but the nature and the scenery make up for it. Our morning safari was awe inspiring. The tents are comfortable, the food excellent and the staff could not care for you any better.

Super cool place! Clean spacious rooms. There are two looks, both are very nice. Good breakfast and dinner! The staff is very nice. We took the Safari with the hotel, and it was good!

Athgira River Camp is located at the door step of Udawalawe National Park with views of Rakwana River. It’s very close to Udawalawe reservoir and to the Elephant Orphanage.

The athgira was a beautiful centre to go from out safari from. The staff were so extraordinar y kind and attentive. We had got engaged 2 days before and they had arranged a suprise afternoon tea gardens followed by an exclusive rose petal and candle filled engagement dinner. We love how much of a team they are and got to know them all. Special thanks to chalani, kithamini, Chanuka, kansaka and hinusha. Couldn't recommend more

Super kind and friendly staff. Definitely the best of the camp. The tents are super well equipped. You feel you are in a camp without compromising on comfort. The setting is very nice, and the vibe at night is awesome with the bonfire and the fire lamps. Great option to stay one night if you want to do safari in the afternoon and in the morning.

The food was great and their dining area is really calm and quiet. You can sit and enjoy your meal. The friendly staff always support their guests. The Mahoora tent is clean, the bed is comfortable, and the living area is big enough. Jeep safari is done by a well-trained safari driver.

The absolute must stay place in Udawalawe! Completes the safari experience - beautifully clean, luxuriously comfortable tents in a coconut grove beside a stream in the middle of a huge sugar cane plantation. And, the best safari guide - Sander is so knowledgable and passionate about all the flora and fauna in the park and took us off the main drag so we saw other parts of the park as well as elephants swimming, ‘wooing’, digging grass… just the most complete, varied, interesting safari we could have hoped for. Back at the camp, dinner by lamplight beside the camp fire, the night listening to the sounds of nature and the babbling stream, breakfast in the coconut grove. In the morning a trip to the Elephant Transit home. The perfect complement to the best safari in Udawalawe!
