A Culinary Delight The food served at Makulu was hands-down the best we had during our entire trip. Every meal was a delicious surprise, showcasing the local flavors and fresh ingredients. Dining under the starry sky by the campfire was a magical experience. Wildlife Encounters Galore We were fortunate to witness an array of fascinating wildlife during our stay. From the majestic elephants to the intriguing land monitors, the camp's location provided ample opportunities for wildlife encounters. The early morning sounds of the jungle were a symphony for the ears. We had a truly unforgettable stay, thanks to the breathtaking Mango Safari Camping and the outstanding dedication of the team. We spent one night at the charming and peaceful campsite and were warmly welcomed. We went to the Elephant Transit Home which was an unforgettable moment in our life where many baby elephants are bottle-fed by humans. The actions and demonstrations done by baby elephants were amazing and somewhat similar to human babies, which was funny to see. We were treated to a traditional Sri Lankan dinner by the bonfire – the food was very delicious. In the morning, we enjoyed a jeep safari in the Udawalawe National Park, we could see ample of elephants feeding on grass, deer, water buffalo, and birdlife of the area and the scenery was simply stunning.

We stayed for only one night for a safari, but would have stayed longer if we had more time. The rooms were just so comfortable, we enjoyed that Lodge feeling! The staff was just the nicest people. The waiters at dinner were so thoughful, friendly and gave us ideas of what to see in Sri Lanka. We would definitely come again!

Athgira River Camp is located at the door step of Udawalawe National Park with views of Rakwana River. It’s very close to Udawalawe reservoir and to the Elephant Orphanage.

The athgira was a beautiful centre to go from out safari from. The staff were so extraordinar y kind and attentive. We had got engaged 2 days before and they had arranged a suprise afternoon tea gardens followed by an exclusive rose petal and candle filled engagement dinner. We love how much of a team they are and got to know them all. Special thanks to chalani, kithamini, Chanuka, kansaka and hinusha. Couldn't recommend more

The food was great and their dining area is really calm and quiet. You can sit and enjoy your meal. The friendly staff always support their guests. The Mahoora tent is clean, the bed is comfortable, and the living area is big enough. Jeep safari is done by a well-trained safari driver.

Unique location in a coconut grove in the middle of the sugar cane fields. Amazing glamping tents. The effort that the staff put into ensuring our stay was wonderful. Great food.

Modu was a wonderful and super attentive host. He couldn’t have done enough for us. He arranged for us to have a late breakfast after we had done our safari tour, and even gave us plentiful snacks for the journey out. All of his food was delicious. The surroundings of the area are wonderful and rich in nature with the lovely waterfall at the back. The tent was very cosy and large.
