At 4,000 metres above sea level, the Upper Svaneti is Europe’s highest inhabited region and home to locals known as Svans. The area is a paradise for hikers, covered with picturesque villages, rolling meadows and snow-capped mountains. Georgia is also well known for its wine, and local tours are a great way to learn about the history and process behind the production.
