The host couple were lovely, so friendly and helpful. The place was well equipped and the kitchen was well stocked with basics which made cooking so much easier. The animals around the place made our two nights even more enjoyable. Perfect stay in Underberg.

Breakfast was good. Portions were a bit more but enjoyed all of it. The environment was just tranquil. I am definitely recommending it to friends and family. Access from main road is very good.

The cottage is a gem, hidden in a beautiful, well maintained garden and private, it was clean and comfortable with a modern crisp look. for colder days there is a gas heater and a fan for warmer days provided which adds to the comfort. Tea, Coffee amenities were provided as well. location is great, close to shopping centers, some restaurants and fast food places. The Host Leigh was so gracious and helpful. We enjoyed our stay greatly. Thank you Willowlea cottage 🙌👏😍🇿🇦

It is close to the famous Sani Pass, where 4X4 enthusiasts can ascend one of the highest and most scenic trails in Southern Africa.     Potholes are ridiculous getting to underberg.

    Potholes are ridiculous getting to underberg. So many & close to each other. Definitely cause damage to your car tires / rims. Once to get to underberg, spar and other stores are convenient. Being close to the berg is beautiful

    It was the most plesant surprise - Underberg and especially...

    It was the most plesant surprise - Underberg and especially Himeville was the cherry on the cake. The views of the Drakensberg is spectacular. Underberg has all the shops you need to buy groceries. Himeville and the lake just outside the town and the museum is a definate "Must" We had a picknic at the lake. Also used the local tour company to go up Sani Pass - what an experience. Words cannot describe the beauty and the experience we had. In Lesotho we visited a local lady, where our guide gave us a talk on their culture and we ate a nice hot "potbrood" The Highest pub in Africa was closed, but we had a great buffet lunch at a local restaurant in Lesotho. - Highly recommend to visit this jewel hidden in the Drakensberg. We went in the beginning of May and the autom colours was beautifull in all the different coloured oak trees.

    The Town of Underberg is a small farming community.

    The Town of Underberg is a small farming community. The town is small but has everything you need… restaurants, Spar food market, liquor store , hardware, pharmacy etc The Town is surrounded by the most spectacular mountains and a large beautiful river. Lots of hikes, cycle tracks , river tubing… a stunning mountain range

    Getting to Underberg from the city may take 2 and a half...

    Getting to Underberg from the city may take 2 and a half hours (from Durban), but the trip is absolutely worth it. If you love the outdoors there is so much to do in terms of hiking, walking, river tubing or mountain biking. There is also golf, Padel and many trails to run.

    It's a small town with only a few restaurants open for dinner. There is a supermarket so you can make your own; you just need to be prepared. There are beautiful areas around the town, but center isn't that spectacular.

    The cottage and service was more then what we expected! The cottage had everything you needed and was in pristine condition. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. In the evenings they would pack and light the fireplace making the cottage even more cozy. It is ideally situated for a morning run/walk, horse riding, paddling, etc and to the restaurants scattered along the Underberg surroundings. The value for money makes this a 10/10 stay.

    The breakfast was fantastic and the staff were great and very helpful. There is a restaurant called the Olde Duck right behind the accommodation and the food and cakes on offer are amazing. There is also a lovely gift shop and a number of cycling and walking trails. The accommodation is very close to Underberg town and other amenities. The rooms are very spacious and well equipped.

    It's an amazing spot in Underberg, with the town just around the corner, but yet you feel you are miles away with the Drakensberg mountains in front of you. The cottage has everything you need, well thought out. Barry was an exceptional host. When the mountains call again, this will be the first choice.
