The location is second to none, incredible ocean and mountain vistas almost wherever you look, but what really made this experience something special are the staff, they are attentive, engaging and friendly. What really struck me about the staff is how much they actually care about your experience, always asking “can I help you with x” or “we can do y if that’s better for you” etc without skipping a beat!

We loved everything: The beautiful decorated and big room, the private and the main terrace with nice pool, the perfect view (most stunning sunset included), the direct access to the beach for a morning swim, the delicious breakfast afterwards, the lovely service and very friendly hosts. The best stay ever!! We felt home from the minute we arrived. The rooms are very comfortable, the house is a treasure and Jonathan is the best host, going out of his way to make your stay unforgettable. Make sure you enjoy a dinner prepared by Jonathan. You won't regret this! Oh, I didn't mention you can actually see the whales from the house, even though you are not right on the water.

Reggie was a perfect host. We were made welcome, looked after properly, and had a superb dinner and perfect breakfast for our needs. The main room we were allocated was unbelievably well appointed with an amazing view. We look forward to a whale-watching re-visit in 2023. A stunning property and stay.     Gansbaai was a comfortable city with spectacular views where our family explored the southern coast of South Africa. We discovered hidden beaches, spotted many beautiful Protea flowers, sunbathed on Pearly Beach, went to the fish market in the harbor at Gansbaai, lunched on butter chicken and fish and chips at the Blue Goose, restaurant on Hoop St, hiked Klipgat Caves at the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, glimpsed a pod of orcas, and a mother Southern Right whale and her calf, spotted three of the Marine Big 5, dined at the White House, saw Danger Point lighthouse along a four wheel drive track along the beach, found crazy amounts of beautiful shells on the beach. It was an epic adventure.

    Amazing place and location.

    Amazing place and location. The staff were very friendly though, especially Carol who makes my wife day so special on her birthday much appreciated, she even upgraded our room that was amazing The ocean view was spectacular, and the breakfast was next level anytime again for me to visit Sea Star Lodge.

    I loved the laid-back feeling, just appropriate for switching off and being away from it all. The place is just some 30 minutes away from Hermanus. One is able to enjoy both towns on a visit to that part of the world.

    Stunning, modern and luxurious....

    Stunning, modern and luxurious.... Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home had everything we could possibly need. Exquisitely decorated and everything, right down to the cutlery and glassware, is high quality. Bed was extremely comfortable. Lovely handwritten welcome note and complimentary bottle of wine on our arrival.
