Bukhara is one of my all-time favorite places to visit. Over the past 20 years, it has been spruced up a lot, almost to the point of loosing that air of ancient place - but it is more comfortable to walk due to brand new pavements everywhere and wide roads. During my visit, the city was prepping for the independence day celebration, and some places were closed or scaffolded for renovation, which i found very annoying. Overall, prices are very affordable; but i wish staff at historical sites were a bit more professional. I was only able to stay in Bukhara for ~18 hours, and that was not nearly enough time. From the very start of walking around, it was so stunning and welcoming - filled with tourists but somehow still feeling peaceful and calming. Having been to Samarkand first, I found Bukhara less impressive than perhaps other people might. One of the issues I have is that it feels totally commercial which detracts from the cultural and historical significance of the city. All of the main sites were filled with carpet and craft sellers- which was the case in in Samarkand, but there, they did not overshadow the cultural and historical significance of the sites. Main tourist sites within Bukhara are accessible by walking or mini-taxi. Locals are generally friendly and helpful. My stay in Bukhara coincided with the muslim holiday Eid Al-Adha and Bukhara Silk & Spice festival. Apart from the usual beautiful sightsee sites there was music and dance everywhere in the streets. Huge outdoor spice market and a big market where people sold mainly handmade suzani and other decorations. Bukhara has the charm of an old city with lots of history. You can walk around everywhere. I was very lucky to be there during the Silk and Spice Festival. The traffic was closed in the old city which made the walk around very pleasant. There were people everywhere, singing and dancing! Really a great day which I spent around.Guest review byOanaRomania

The room was comfortable, with good air conditioning and a fridge, which was important as it was very hot while we were there. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the hotel is very beautifully decorated with traditional Uzbek hangings and artefacts. The breakfast was wonderful - lots of delicious dishes!
