The house is full of mold 3 of the 4 visitor got sick while we were there, and I'm still sick four days later. All of our clothes and suitcases smell like mildew. We had to wash all of our clothes when we got home (even the one's that we didn't wear). Had to put our suitcases outside to air them out when we returned, but it didn't help much. I believe we deserve a full refund! We would also like compensation for our ruined suitcases. Please call me.Guest review byReeves - 10.0
It is close to Volcano National Park.
It is close to Volcano National Park. In the park, there are many scenic hiking trails, interesting natural wonders, and with luck, an eruption. Facilities in the town are minimal, with limited dining and groceries.Guest review byPhilip - 10.0
Two or three days seems the right amount of time for Volcano...
Two or three days seems the right amount of time for Volcano and it's obvious neighbouring attractions. The town itself seems a bit "tourist challenged" in that there are a very limited number of dining choices. Other than that, there is a weekly Farmers Market on Sunday mornings, a gas station, hardware store, a couple of general stores, a slew of BnBs...and that's about it. I absolutely adorable volcano village.
I absolutely adorable volcano village. Unfortunately the small volcano general store has turned into a bistro called Thai Thai bistro which is extremely overpriced at $24-$30 a plate. We ordered the sweet sour stirfry and asked for pork but ended up with chicken because it was takeout, there was no way to send it back Other than the commercialization of the village. Got lucky to book a room at Volcano House due to a last minute cancellation. View of erupting volcano was an extraordinary once in a lifetime experience. Volcano is conveniently close to the national park , and Mauna kena, and far away from the touristic loud places . However access roads are tricky, you need a good car . And not too many options close by for groceries or place to eat.Guest review byDeisyUnited States
