Location was great. Just a few blocks from the craziness of Bourbon St. Also beside green street car to Garden district and Hop on Hop off bus. What made the holiday were the staff. From check in, we were warmly welcomed and that hospitality lasted throughout our stay. Every one of thier staff members would bend over backwards to accommodate you or just say hello when passing. It was truly exceptional. From Patrick at breakfast to Renaldo at reception, they always had time for us. I have stayed in top 5 star hotels that have not managed that level of hospitality. The drinks and evening snacks where of a very high standard, as was the breakfast. We were on a 3 week tour of different US States and staying in 6 different hotels, this was by far our favourite.

FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, in the heart of the Deep South, the ‘Big Easy’ is being regenerated in the wake of devastating hurricane Katrina.

One area relatively unscathed was Bourbon Street – where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars interspersed by others offering more colourful nightlife. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by the Disney-esque St Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD skyscrapers and beside them is the huge Louisiana Superdome sports venue. Booking.com has several hotels near the Superdome, including some on Canal Street – a historic road where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou – the typical wetlands of the state.

Better than past visits, the city finally hired a company (IV Waste) that has cleaned up the area 1,000,000 %., Sad they are trying to replace them with some politically connected corporate disaster. Was the cleanesst I have ever seen. Police presence was far greater as well.

What an incredible city. I am a southern woman. Yet I have never been to New Orleans. It was as fantastic as I thought it would be. If you've ever considered traveling there, or even if you haven't, go! Be safe! Be aware! It is New Orleans. But go!

Great food and wonderful music. So much more to this City than Broadway. The Grand Ole Opry was amazing. The blues/jazz music on Printers Alley was a nice alternative to the Country vibe on Broadway.

Do NOT go in the summer, 94 deg F and 90% humidity way too hot for all the walking. Public transport is reasonably priced at $15 a person average or less, with a variety to choose from. Be careful on excursions, they are not always what they are advertised. Be sure to visit the WW11 Museum..plan at least a full day. SOME OF THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE I have ever met. Of course food and things to due are unlimited. Take your WALKIN SHOES. On a scale of 1 to 10.. it's a 4 for ADA accessible.

The Arts District was very nice, and once a month, there is a "white linen night" kind of like a First Friday Arts event. We were there for the Satchmo Fest, which was amazing for jazz/world music and culture lovers. NOLA is a place, if you are oriented with a tour - that will be very helpful in getting around and prioritizing what you want to see/do. Our favorite spots to visit were NOMA and the Treme area, although the French Quarter was great too. We saw a concert at Preservation Hall, which was fun. I would say our favorite cafes, pubs were in side streets, and we were not that fond of the Bourbon Street night scene, although during the day the area is dotted with cute cafes and bookshops. It is close to do a bayou alligator swamp tour, and if you are without a car (which I recommend since parking is very steep) bus transport can be organized. Overall, the city is a friendly place with the Southern hospitality, and I would be back in a heartbeat.

Nice hostel, typical 'Hi USA' hostel, clean, comfortable, nice rooms, with curtains on the beds for privacy, lockers for each bed, complete kitchen for cooking and big common rooms on the ground floor and next to the kitchen. Outlet in your bed for charging phone. Hostel is close to Bourbon street / French Quarter, as well as the WWII museum and the main drag of New Orleans, so very convenient for a tourist visitor. There are a lot of music places in the various streets and quite a few eateries.

Stayed here for the New Orleans Jazz Fest. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean, we loved the sleek, modern decor and furnishings. The location was just off Canal Street which meant the hotel was adjacent to everything in the French Quarter and was close to the transportation links to the Jazz Fest. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely visit New Orleans and stay at the Rubenstein again.

The hotel is located in the Warehouse District - a good location for accessing many parts of New Orleans on foot - including the WWII museum (5 min walk), Canal Street, Bourbon Street, the water front and the French Quarter (20 min walk). There are also some nice restaurants nearby for dinner and lunch.
