Orcas Island is less populated and less busy than San Juan...
Orcas Island is less populated and less busy than San Juan Island and it has 2 great mountain hiking areas. Eastsound is the main village and has a gas station, supermarket, coffee shops and excellent bakery. You can walk alla round Eastsound, but definitely need a car to see the island.Guest review byjoelUnited States - 10.0
Eastsound was wonderful!
Eastsound was wonderful! Would definatley recommend the Lone Pine Larder! One of the most delicious bites from the whole weekend. Didn't get a chance to visit Houlme but their pizza looked divine. Brown bear baking was the elite coffee and pastry choice, and I'd recommend getting ice cream from clever cow creamery and wine from Doe Bay Wine. The Orcas Island Historical Museum was fun as well! Beautiful little village with cute shops, beautiful setting on water, flowers galore, lots of eateries— bakeries, lunch & breakfast, outdoor, fish & even Mexican—all delicious. Make ferry reservations and be prepared with your vehicle sizes. Great area - very quiet. Easy to get around and friendly service. We enjoyed a storm event and made the cabin even more exciting in the off season. Beautiful views and good food services. We enjoyed the market in Orcas. It is hard to get to and that makes if a very special place. We saw trash from previous renters - please keep the islands clean. Bring your camera!! We went to the Mt Constitution look out. We highly recommend Orcas Island / Eastsound. We enjoyed the stunning views, the beaches, the parks and the kid friendly trails, the galleries, shops and bakeries and a whale watching excursion. We prepared most of our own meals, but had a delicious lunch at Buck Bay Shellfish Farm, bread from Orcas Bakery and our last breakfast from Brown Bear Bakery. We loved Orcas Pottery. Our whale watching with Outer Island Excursions was a highlight of the trip. We got to see two humpback whales put on a show! We love driving around the island, visiting different...
We love driving around the island, visiting different harbors and bays. It didn’t rain so we had an amazing time. Really liked having the hotel so close to being in town and everybody was very friendly. You can’t beat the views, and every part of the island is a wonderful place to visit. Very relaxing. If you like beautiful, ocean views, farms, and relaxing this is the place to go. Mount Constitution is a must and deer Harbor also. We shopped at the local stores which have amazing art. There’s a little print shop in town that is a must visit where you can get custom shirts. The co-op is a nice small market, and the leather shop is a great visit. There is an outdoor gear place that has beautiful jackets if you forgot to bring the right coat. We ate at the orcas Inn for breakfast and also the new leaf café, which was definitely worth visiting.Guest review byConnieUnited States
