We really liked the hotel itself – beautiful surroundings, a nice pool, excellent cuisine, lovely authentic bungalows, and wonderful staff, especially Esther, who was always cheerful with a big smile, the delicate Melania, and, complementing these lovely ladies, the wonderful Julius. The hotel also arranges excursions, and we went on the Blue Safari. We were lucky to get private tour just for my husband and me, and it was cheaper than group tours offered elsewhere. We highly recommend it. We wish the owner Anick (conductor of a magnificent orchestra) continued prosperity for this wonderful place. Thank you for everything. Karina and Simba

If you're looking for a high quality local experience in Zanzibar, this is the place to go. Sandrine and David are the nicest hosts. They helped us before the trip with all questions that we had. What makes Palmera so special is its inspiring mission. The hotel and restaurant operate as a hospitality school for local young women, and the exceptional service they provide is a direct reflection of their training. From their warm smiles to their impeccable attention to detail, you can feel the genuine pride they take in their work. The hotel's setting is pure paradise. The infinity pool overlooking the turquoise sea is mesmerizing, and the lush, immaculately kept gardens create a perfect oasis for relaxation. It was wonderful to be able to walk barefoot through the fine sand and simply enjoy the tranquility. For anyone, but especially for vegans, the restaurant is a must-visit. The creative and delicious vegan dishes, all beautifully prepared and presented by the talented students, were a true highlight. It's a testament to the high-quality training they are receiving. The breakfast, in particular, was the best I had during my three-week stay in Tanzania, the homemade warm bread and homemade chocolate spread were unforgettable. For lunch and dinner, with main courses priced between $11 and $13, it offers exceptional value. This 15-room hotel is a quiet retreat. I stayed when it was almost empty and had no issues with noise, but even when full, the large garden and pool area should provide plenty of space for guests. The price range for double rooms in the 2025 high season was 70-100 USD. All rooms face the sea, though the view can be a bit limited from some of the downstairs rooms. While the large windows are beautiful, the curtains don’t fully cover them, which could be a privacy concern for some. I prefer a firm mattress, and the bed was perfect for me, but it might be a bit too hard for others. The solar-powered hot water worked flawlessly. The road to the hotel is a little bumpy on the last kilometer, but there are plans to improve it. In the bathrooms, I would have appreciated a bit more space to dry towels, or a drying rack on the terrace.

Stunning villa on a beautiful quiet beach. Exactly what we wanted! Away from the busy crowds. The villa, restaurant and facilities were all clean, modern and tastefully done. Food in the restaurant was absolutely fantastic! Best food on our two week trip. Staff were all so friendly and went above and beyond.

Tafauti Inn is the perfect home away from home. Lovely garden, perfect pool and a staff that becomes family. Whith 3 minutes walk to the Indian ocean a bit away from the busy tourist areas this is an oasis of tranquility, peace and relaxation. I have been to Zanzibar many times and I am coming back in February and Tafauti is definitely my choice. Unmissable!

Beautiful place, relaxed vibe, staff were super friendly. Room right on the waterfront. Loved all the various lounging spaces. Free kayaks to paddle around in. So glad I took a chance on a South coast beach rather than the more popular Northern/Eastern beaches - this place was perfect.

The staff and manager were incredibly helpful, nice and tried their hardest to make us feel welcome. Restaurant has a pretty decent selection of multiple cuisines and everything is tasty, especially their cake! The hotel is located on first line with direct exit to beach. Perfect for watching sunset with a nice cocktail! We had a special reason for our trip, and they went on extra lengths to make our stay special. Definitely would stay here again!
