Bangkok is an acquired taste.
Bangkok is an acquired taste. Many people arrive to spend a couple of nights before flying off elsewhere, Phuket, Chiang Mai etc. It's appearance is crowded and chaotic around Sukhumvit where I mainly stay. However, the reality is quite different. A few streets back behind the madness is a serenity one doesn't expect. The places you can stay are World class for much less than you'd pay in Europe. It's safe and friendly as most of Thailand. Sukhumvit is only a tiny part of the city. There's the river, Chinatown, the Indian quarter, Arabic areas, Old Town. Bangkok is a fascinating city. It's just a big capital.

We stayed 3 days in Bangkok before flying on to Phuket and wish we had stayed longer! So much to see and do and the general vibe was so friendly and upbeat. The street food was exceptional and the temples/palaces/markets were brilliant. Bangkok was originally just a needed stop over but turned out to one of the best stops on the holiday. Amazing city- it has something for everyone, and every day. I would consider moving here. Some fun activities I did- I went to a shooting range, an escape room, and pub crawl. Amazing city, amazing shopping, nightlife, so so many things to do and see. I've been coming to Thaliand for many years now and love everything about the beautiful country, Bangkok is the best city I've been to in the world, the food, which can be found everywhere is some of the best you will find in the world, the shopping malls are some of the biggest and best in the world. It is starting to get more expensive and not as many bargins to be found, but they can still be found, just head to some of the less touristy areas and your find all sort wonders within the Thai culture.Guest review byRickieUnited Kingdom
