Very quiet location with lots of quiet well surfaced roads around for biking. Lovely spacious well equipped room, staff all very friendly, delicious evening meal and breakfasts, the former a set 3 course the latter a buffet. Went to great lengths to make sure my wife had lots of dairy free food options. Lots of lounge areas for sitting and relaxing. Secure bicycle storage (owner had a range of vintage bicycles on display).

The operators are very nice, helpful, they will advise you on planning trips to the surrounding area, give you tips on where to go to eat or where to buy traditional products. They serve an excellent breakfast, made from local products. Definitely recommended.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of the Karst From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our host, setting the tone for a truly memorable stay. The accommodation itself is in a beautifully renovated old stone house, combining traditional charm with modern comfort. Breakfast was an absolute highlight – almost everything was homemade, from the delicious prosciutto to freshly baked bread and eggs. You could really taste the care and tradition behind every bite. What truly sets this place apart is its peaceful setting. You can simply hop on a bike or take a walk straight from the house into the surrounding woods – we walked for hours without seeing a single person. It’s the perfect escape from the noise of everyday life. A special tip: ask for the guidebook written by the hostess about local walking and cycling routes around the Karst. It’s full of great insights and hidden spots that you won’t find elsewhere. All in all – a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!

An exceptional and very peaceful location on the edge of the village, perfect for a complete getaway from the hectic world. My wife and I had a very restful time, enjoyed the beautiful surroundings filled with greenery, and were thoroughly impressed with the lovely bedroom with a bathroom and the central living room, arranged with attention to detail. We highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates tranquility!

    The town itself is very quiet and perfect for riding bikes...

    The town itself is very quiet and perfect for riding bikes around the wineries. The eating out locations are limited but we managed to.secure an outside table at the castle, which was lovely. Get an E bike. We used a local firm called DIM bikes who delivered the bikes and picked them up. Don't forget to ask for a phone holder to navigate.

    Our stay at Blackbird House in Stanjel was beyond amazing...

    Our stay at Blackbird House in Stanjel was beyond amazing and the village helped greatly with that. The peace and friendliness of almost everyone made us feel like we had stepped back in time. We spent days wandering the village, looking in shops, relaxing in the Ferrari gardens and felt at peace... other than when we went to the Bistro Grad Stanjel! The service went from aloof to downright rude! Stay away from the this place but the rest of Stanjel is lovely!
