It’s THE hub for Abisko so staying here was kinda the only option for us. The place was great regardless. We enjoyed our time here! We saw a glimpse of northern light at around 2am on our last night:)

Our stay at Abisko Guesthouse was absolutely unforgettable! The guesthouse is clean, cozy, and conveniently located—just a short walk from the train station and about 30 minutes from Abisko National Park. It's perfect for anyone looking to enjoy nature without compromising on comfort. We had the pleasure of joining the Sami BBQ, an authentic and engaging experience, and went aurora hunting with Alex, an amazing guide. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, Alex managed to find a stunning spot where we could witness the northern lights—truly a moment to cherish forever. The next day, we took a tour of the Norwegian fjords, and it was just as incredible. The landscapes were breathtaking, and everything was perfectly organized. A special mention goes to the guesthouse owner, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a unique and authentic experience in the heart of Lapland, Abisko Guesthouse is the perfect place. We’ll definitely be back!

Everything! We loved staying at Mickes o Rita’s place. They stuga is fully equipped and nicely designed. The hosts are superfriendly and even bought us something from the supermarket as Björkliden is a small place only with a small grocery store inside the hotel. Thank you very much for everything. We hope to return some day!

I have been here eleven times, which must show that I like it very much. I have been here summer and winter as well. I mostly hike to Lapporten and Trollsjoen. On the other hand, I am not a fan of Kungsleden, which for me is a motorway for pedestrians.

Abisko is a perfect destination for having a good chance of getting to see the Northern Lights. The geographical location and the climatic conditions make it a perfect location for witnessing the magic of the Aurora Borealis. A trip to the Abisko Sky Station is definitely worth a visit. The view from the top is phenomenal! If you happen to be there up north on a near full moon day and you get lucky to see the Northern Lights, you will find it hard not be satisfied with what you experience!

Best place to see the Northern Lights.

Best place to see the Northern Lights. Abisko only has limited accommodations so there's guarantee that the place will never be overcrowded. Transportation is very difficult and you must book everything in advance. Eating options include the restaurants at the hotels, kitchen in hostels. There's 2 places where you can buy your groceries - Godisfabriken and the shop in the Abisko Tourist Station. Other than that, you go to Kiruna or Narvik (which are pretty far)

We traveled to Abisko in the winter and so there wasn't much daylight, but there were quite a number of guided tours available (aurora viewing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, etc.). I'm sure it would be great in the summer months for hiking and other outdoor activities. There was only one restaurant in town but it was very good.

    Winter trip:

Winter trip: Best location we visited between Norway and Sweden for viewing the Auroras. We finally found success here, when all the apps were saying there was no chance of success. Abisko made everywhere else seem like a tourist trap. There is very little light pollution here, and we saw more stars than I have seen since I was a child. There is a grocery store if you need anything. You can travel by train or by car. There are plenty of outdoor activities to do, and you are provided with proper cold weather gear for every activity. If you want to do something on your own, you can rent equipment as needed. There are only a few places to eat, so book in advance.

The house was very clean and the is nice and helped us in many cases. The kitchen is well equipped and a wonderful place to stay to connect with other travellers. They have a wonderful sauna in the evening where you again can connect with others. The hostel is very close to the national park. It is reachable by foot, but a bit more convenient with the car.

Close to Abisko Östra station and the only grocer in the area. Also, only 10 minutes to get to the lake. I went during the shoulder season to try to capture the Northern lights and boy I did! Even from the car park. There's a few areas to eat and cook and lots of showers and toilets. The dining with a view of the lake was always beautiful!
