History and Sandy Algarve Beaches
With a long and rich history, Lagos is nowadays a famous beach resort of the sunny Portuguese region of Algarve. Including wide sandy beaches and quiet coves enclosed by ochre cliffs, it also offers a lively city centre with one of the best mixes between history and modernity in the region.
King Henry the Navigator chose it as a base for his trips of discovery during the 15th century, and later on, it became the residence of the Algarve governors. The Old Town is circled by medieval walls, typical narrow streets, historic buildings and charming squares. Lagos is an interesting place with some real history and a vibe that makes it attractive to visitors. During our visits, we found good shops, bars, and restaurants. Beautiful coastal city - The boardwalk along the cliff and beach is gorgeous! The sea food was so fresh and delicious. We enjoyed Algarve Catamaran Cruise with lunch and Dolphin & Benagil Tour with Marine Biologist. It was easy to call the Uber to go around the city.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

I don't know any other town with so many little places all interconnected with several small streets - you feel like discovering something new every few minutes! From the towns we visited (Faro, Albufeira, Portimao) I'm very happy we went to Lagos: it's nicer than Faro, less touristic than Albufeira and more interesting than Portimao. Everything's clean, most shops are driven by natives, and you have great food for reasonable prices. Everyone is very nice, and it is a good mix of supporting tourists, but feeling like you can truly immerse yourself in the culture. 10/10. Do not miss Pinhao Restaurant and Bar!
