The design of the hotel is fantastic! The rooms are beautiful and clean, thanks to housekeeping twice a day! Thanks for the little attention on our pillows ;) Charles and his bold collegue (don’t know his name, sorry) at the reception are doing an amazing job. And last but not least Jorge, responsable for breakfast, runs from left to right to make sure everybody is happy and presentation of the food is up to standard. He was very helpfull to us and our baby! Congrats to the entire The Vine staff.

First of all, the garden was extraordinary. Jardim botanico da Madeira was nothing compared to this. The pool was although a little bit cold, but beautiful with the palm trees, and the night light. The snacks at the bar next to the pool were surprisingly good. And you have to try the poncha at the other bar during happy hour. The stuff was extremily attentive and kind. The breakfast was delicious, and the restaurant looked great with the pool next to the tables. We loved to start our days there. Our room was with oceanview. First thing in the mornings was to step out onto the balcony to get a view and taste of the ocean and the garden, and to listen to the parrot chirping. The interior design was cosy and really nice. The only thing wich came to our minds was the absence of a cool, signature scent at the hotel lobby. There are pharmacy and shops, plenty of bars and restaurants in walk distance - Il Basilico is the very best -, but if you'd like to get in to the center, I would recommend car or bus.

Everything was perfect. The location of the hotel, close to all places. The room was very clean and comfortable. All the staff, at the reception and restaurant, were wonderful, very helpful and friendly. We would like to special thank to a lovely girl working at the reception at night shifts and the lovely gentleman having day shifts. Sorry we don't remember their names. They both helped us to get to the most interesting places and we were very gratefull for all of their recommendations. We would definitely stay here again. The best hotel ever

We loved everything about the property. Our suit was spacious, clean, gorgeous views. As there are not too many suites it felt very private. We spent hours at the infinity pool and jacuzzi. It was a perfect after hike stay.

Everything! Staff were great and location was 30 seconds to the old town with a ton of restaurant options. All the staff from the front desk to Carlos and Jose in the bar were extremely friendly and great at their jobs! Would definitely stay here again.

Everything, the location, surroundings, it was so pretty with the flowers, butterflies and all the green around. the facilities was so interesting and special. Breakfast was good but mostly the view and very the breakfast where located was fantastic. Last but not least the staff was amazing and so polite and professional, they even asked me when I wanted to go to the restaurant late at night if I wanted someone to follow me there I think that was a little bit extra. Overall we are happy that we choose this hotel.

    Our first visit to Madeira and our 10 night stay in Funchal was excellent. It exceeded our high expectations. The West and East full-day bus tours of the island were excellent, as was the 3 hour trip on the Santa Maria de Colombo, a replica Christopher Columbus sailing ship. The other sights we thoroughly enjoyed included the Monte Palace via cable car, Botanical Garden, Cathedral and Bell Tower, the historic area of Funchal and slightly further away, Camara de Lobos.

    Friendly island. Beautiful landscape. Amazing food! Hidden villages. Narrow roads. Water fountains. Loved Camara dos Lobos, the streets are beautifully decorated. Loved the different Ponchas. Loved the safety feeling when walking early hours of the morning back to the hotel.

    The only one real "city" on Madeira, very lovely, green, excellent choice of places for breakfast and dinner. Prices are also better than everywhere on an island. The cable car and Monte park are exceptional. You would probably spend more time travelling around the island than in Funchal itself. But transport connectivity is the best from Funchal as well, especially if you take buses

    Funchal is a lovely place to visit.

    Funchal is a lovely place to visit. We have been going there for many years. It has become much busier and I hope it doesn't become a victim of its own success. The hotels are busier as are the restaurants. The prices are reasonable.

    Very beautiful ,attractive and a busy city, panoramically situated on the steep slopes above the ocean, full of natural ,historical and cultural tourist attaractions ,Great food, restaurants ,bars and cafes !Friendly local people ,nice bus, Uber and Bolt drivers. I enjoyed Plaza Madeira - a gorgeous and beautiful shopping mall on three levels ,great food store -.Pingo doce supermarket with a great buffet, very reasonably priced as well as a variety of boutiques with gorgeous clothes like Quebramar, where we were able able to buy a great and beautiful cotton jackets plus many other services and cafes. plazamadeira.pt/en/stores/

    The hotel is beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a great choice of cooked and continental. The rooftop pool and bar have fantastic views. The location is ideal for visiting all parts of Funchal, it’s a very walkable city. It was my birthday during our stay and I received a bottle of fizz and Madeira cake which was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. The reception staff gave us very helpful information on check in and arranged a hire car for us.

    Everything at this hotel was exceptional. Traditional hotel with lovely knowledgeable staff. Beautiful authentic Madeiran buildings. Breakfast was in a lovely airy, flower filled room with every possible food you could wish for, even chocolate or orange cake for breakfast with traditional 'full cooked breakfast' too. Much closer than most hotels to central Funchal.

    Hotel Madeira is in an excellent location with an easy 7 minute walk to the Old Town which is packed with restaurants and bars. The beds were comfortable, the AC worked and the showers were a good size. we spent many an afternoon relaxing by the pool at the terrace bar on top of the hotel having lunch and drinks handed to us. I would highly recommend this property.

    Everything was perfect. We were given a warm welcome with a glass of madeira on arrival and a basket of fruit the following day. The hotel is a good 45 minute walk to the centre of Funchal but it's surrounded by good restaurants and shops and is right next to the promenade which is great for walks.
