This was my first visit but it won’t be my last! I had no idea that Krakow is so beautiful! It’s steeped in history, and every street in the old town is full of magnificent facades. The town square is amazing - full of cafes to sit and watch the world go by. If you like Vienna, you will love Krakow! The old castle is worth visiting. The city has many, and very diverse, churches. We ate dinner in Le Tre Sorelle restaurant and were very pleased with the meal which was really delicious. Krakow is certainly a place to visit in Poland. It has a rich history and I found it very easy to navigate. I was especially lucky to visit at the end of the International Folk Art fair. This introduced me to a large variety of folk art and handicrafts. In addition, there was a lot of local Polish cuisine to try out. I arranged two day trips from Krakow. One was to Auschwitz-Birkenau. This was a moving and emotional experience. The other was a trip to Zakopane south of the city, where we saw more of the countryside and also visited a thermal bath. Plus we found it a very romantic city We loved the salt mine , we used Bolt to get there and back , Schindler’s ceramic factory was very interesting and ou4 main reason for this trip was our visit to Auchwitz. Like Paris and Prague, Kraków was mostly spared destruction in WWII. The city has a vibrant old town with a magnificent main square, largest in Europe, churches and fortifications that date back nearly 1000 years, and very friendly locals who always seem happy to help. Don't miss ascending the bell tower of St. Mary's on the hour for the trumpet call. The Salt Mine is just a short train ride out of town and a must-see: wear good walking shoes and a light jacket.
