BulgariaThe rooms are big and offer all you need for an overnight stay. The bed is big and everything is very clean. Yet there is a bit of a old smell from the carpet. The parking is right in front of your room, which is very handy. The self check in is supposed to work smoothly, but as we booked last moment we didn't get the code in time and had to wait for about half an hour in front to get a new code. They were nice and let us check out 30min later.

I was only there for 2 nights, specifically for the NZ History Federation AGM and Conference. So it was very busy with organised activities at Te Hana Cultural Centre and bus trip around Port Albert, including the Museum across the road from motel and RSA Wellsford. Wellsford is a town you have to drive through as you travel...
Wellsford is a town you have to drive through as you travel north to the Bay of Islands and beyond. It can be a bottle neck so if you are not heading there for an overnight stay, best to make certain that you do not hit it at peak travel times or season. It has everything for a quick stop. Petrol station. Many fast food outlets and amenities for travellers. If you want to take a quieter more scenic route to Auckland, then take the road to Hellensville which joins SH1 at Wellsfords Northern end. Pleasant country surroundings easy access off the main highway heaps of parking straight outside each unit and suprisingly quiet a really good place to stay when travelling from up north down to Auckland. Pull cord main light switch was unusual (and sometimes difficult to find) but otherwise great accommodation. Lovely garden to wander around in.
