If you want to have a quite holiday exploring Tauranga go there in the off season say June to september .otherwise the summer is great but very busy . It was a lovely fresh clean motel we were there for only one nite to attend a birthday celebration. When we got back to the motel it appeared the bed had been used as a couch and the $400 dollar bottle of parfum that was on the bed was gone. We were there in autumn.
We were there in autumn. It's a summer city ... sun, sea and surf. Not many cultural activities and the art gallery happened to be closed! Historic village, although mainly retail, was a pleasant couple of hours stroll through. Tauranga a good place for families I think. If you have a car you can have a great vacation here. The city itself is a perfect place for hiking for a spectacualr view (Maunganui summit), do some shopping (the city center is full of restaurants, shops), exploring history (Historic village, Elms foundation, Old Timer Cars community event), find extraordinary interesting and beatiful places around (Glow Worms+Waterfall at McLaren Falls, hiking at Kaiate Falls, visting Firth Tower at Matamata,...)Guest review byTamásNew Zealand - 10.0
