Everything was great. We were late to check in, but stuff of the hotel left us instructions how to get to our cabin. The cabin itself is very spacious with high ceilings. Food in nearby hotel was fresh and tasty and you can see some oryx and birds while eating outside. Stargazing was an additional free experience. Location is very close to Sossusvlei.

Everything was perfect. The bungalows were clean, private and bathroom had a bathtub and large shower with warm water. The property provided soap and lotion. The magic started when you looked outside the window as there would be animals everywhere in the surrounding areas. Rhinos, zebras, gnus and so many more! Loved the food too. Prices for bar and wine was extremely reasonable and personnel was very helpful and friendly

At Kronenhof is an incredible property, with awesome campsites, the best during our time in Namibia while self driving! Private campsites are clean and wonderfully located, allowing seclusion in a picturesque landscape. The dark sky we saw here was sublime and we enjoyed exploring by 4x4 and seeing giraffes and other animals! An unforgettable experience.

I don’t know where to start it was just amazing beeing welcomed to this place. Our room was beyond beautiful with an outdoor bed (they‘ll arrange sheets and everything if you tell the reception) a second terrace with sunloungers, outdoorshower and another balcony right in front of your bed. Interior is very spacious with gorgeous big windows, a big comfortable bed, lounge area with the most amazing view and a very big bathroom. Minibar and coffeestation are filled up so you can enjoy a drink right when you arrive. We had Zebras right in front of the lodge when we arrived. For sundowner you can choose to visit the upper deck (up a small hill), they‘ll arrange the drink you told them in advance and also very good tapas. Thanks a lot to Willie and the second waiter for arranging our drinks last minute and for racing up the hill with them and our tapas. :) After that head right to dinner, honestly the best dinner we had during our whole holiday. The steak was amazing, the starter and the amuse guele, the soup and the dessert. Lastly the whole staff really cares and seems to really enjoy beeing there and working together you can really feel the team spirit. Its about 40min drive to Sesriem Gate (they provide early breakfast with you want to leave before sunrise) for us that was totally fine. We arrived at the gate for sunrise and at Sossusvlei in time to walk up Big Daddy before the heat. Scenery and light is amazing at this time of the day. After running down the hill to Deadvlei we drove back to the Lodge to enjoy a beautiful afternoon and evening. Only downside that we just stayed 2 nights and couldn’t enjoy a whole day at the lodge. We‘ll come back, thanks again.

We stayed at the Desert Camp, not far from the park entrance...

We stayed at the Desert Camp, not far from the park entrance gate. It was an easy drive to the park, and the 60km of wonderful tarred road to the 2 wheel drive car park. This gives access to Dig Daddy dune and Deadvlei. From here the park vehicle took us to Big Momma dune, and also goes to Hidden Vlei. All very easy. Dune 45 is 45 km along the road. The bus cost 180 Namibian dollars in October 2023. Wear runners to climb the dunes and walk to Deadvlei. Har, sunglasses and water are essential. We ate at the restaurant inside the park gate. Good and affordable. We bought our water at the shop there. Breakfast at the Sossusvlei Lodge was good too. I would recommend paying extra for tyre and glass insurance when picking up your rental car. Prior to coming to Sesriem, we had a flat tyre far from anywhere and Hertz directed us to a lodge with tyre repair services. We had to go on to Outjo to get the fixed tyre replaced, but the insurance made it less of a concern.

Best place to experience the oldest desert on earth.

Best place to experience the oldest desert on earth. Wonderful place to spend time with. At least you need to stay 1 night inside park to make sure that you can go to Deadvlei early in the moring. Take photos with shade of light. Hiking at Daddy dune in the morning and slide down to deadvlei.

Sesriem is an oasis in the desert and everything is well organized but basic. Prepare well before you go. The cleanliness of the entire area is remarkable. The Namibian people are very friendly and helpful - don't be shy to ask for advice.

I loved the dunes, but we should have got there a bit earlier in the day for the best photographic opportunities. We stayed at We Kebi Lodge which was exceptional value for money, and I would have loved to stay there for a longer stay.

The road in from Mariental (273Km) and out to Walvis Bay (...

The road in from Mariental (273Km) and out to Walvis Bay (315 Km) were sand/gravel, and in a poor shape for large portions. Other than that it was a great stay. 2 nights should be a minimum with at least one day to frolic in the dunes.

Accommodation in and around Sesriem and Sossusvlei is slightly on the expensive side for locals and South Africans. However, it is one of those things that you have to see and experience should you be able to travel the gravel roads of this vast country.

The camp is a short drive from Sossusvlei ideal to be able to get there when the gates open. It is self catering but you can have breakfast at the hotel a short drive down the road towards Sossusvlei. We did this and it worked very well. We ordered a BBQ pack which had everything we needed for dinner and if needed you can order breakfast too. The room was lovely and comfortable with a terrace and outdoor kitchen to watch the sunset from. The pool bar is a nice place to have a drink and the views are lovely.

Sheer deluxe in the desert. The proximity to the dunes is fantastic. The room was excellent and our view overlooking the dunes and watching the animals go by and star gazing at night made it even more special. The dining option was buffet style with a wide variety for both breakfast and dinner. The Activity Centre offers tours to the dunes, Sesriem Canyon and the Sundowner Drives were reasonably priced, well organised, with excellent guides (thank you Werner).

The hotel lies in the middle of the desert, soo peaceful with a 360 degrees view. We booked for a special occasion the wine cellar and had a romantic diner there, Gaskab, our waiter, did a wonderful job, making this occasion unforgettable. The pool in the middle of the structure is a real oasis. The room with balcony was amazing, it’s worth while paying a bit more for the rooms with balconies. You won’t be disappointed.
