Wilz. What a disappointment.
Wilz. What a disappointment. For such a large town in the Ardenne with all its great country trails and forests around, the town has little to offer except being a base to sleep. It feels very functional and food choices ae limited. It's high spots are the chateau grounds and its Battle of Bulge museum, some other gardens and a memorial tower, but plan for less than 1/2 day. Sports facilities are a plus point too - not that you'll need extra fitness - streets are steep. For one solid memory, head west out of town to the National liberation memorial at the Schumanns Eck crossroads. It recognises the allies liberation of the area in late 1944-45 through a 3km installation trail of 65 life-size silhouettes images of real US and German soldiers and civilians present during the Ardennes offensive. It's a good base for the area.
It's a good base for the area. The castle with the brewery, museum and Battle of the Bulge museum were interesting (1/2 a day max). Its worth climbing the tower for the view. A pleasant little town - good for a relaxing weekend but don't expect too much in way of shops - castle and museum is nice as it the Parc de Wiltz. The restaurant at the hotel is great and we were able to sit in the garden, good food and wine choices.. great service.Guest review byDavidBelgium

The hotel is very close to the castle and the beer museum. Also there are a few restaurants/ Cafèes in the area so there are some options, and Match store is just outside. The rooms are small but spacy. The area was quiet. The breakfast was good, not like a buffet but enough options to have what you need. In a quiet location by a river, free parking was available right outside the hotel. My room was large, the bed very comfortable and I had the best night's sleep in a long time. A fantastic service is to make the indoor swimming pool exclusively available for 40 minutes, and you can rent towels and bathrobes. Dinner was fabulous, and breakfast was good. Friendly staff, cabin was clean and nice, and the facilities were all good. The pool was quiet and enjoyable.
