This place is pure soul medicine. The oversized wooden cabins are stunning — larger than most city studios, with four-poster beds, huge bathrooms, and private terraces surrounded by trees. A pool sits just below your steps, and breakfast is served beside the river. Turn right to reach the beach road’s bars and shops; turn left into town to meet kind locals. But what truly makes this magical is the people. Rafi goes above and beyond with genuine care and kindness. He brought an umbrella to shelter me during a rain shower. He helped arrange tuk-tuks, shopping, and even welcomed me into his beautiful village. That day will stay with me. Chuti’s cooking is out of this world — soulful curries cooked to perfection. Asanka, Cha, and the rest of the team are warm, intuitive, and quietly brilliant. Returning to your cottage feels like the fairies have been — everything clean, calm, and glowing. It’s the kind of place that makes you breathe deeper, sleep better, and believe in the goodness of people again. I travel a lot. I’m extremely picky. And I can say — from Monte Carlo to Mauritius — this is in my top three stays anywhere in the world. The Cottage is family, nature, care, and calm wrapped into one unforgettable experience. Places like this aren’t found — they find you. And they stay with you.

Very very friendly staff. The owner is trying his best to make our stay confortable. The rest of the staff is also very helpful and friendly. The pictures on Booking are bad because the building is amazing and the reality is better than pictures. Very nice and big garden and very beautifull and clean pool. Room was huge and very clean. Bathroom was very nice as well.

This place is perfection! From the warm welcome to our stunning suite to the food, the service - it does not get any better than this. The Uga Riva is at the same time a journey to the past and an expierience of contemporary luxury at its best. Be it the beautifully decorated rooms, the pool, the garden, the restaurant, everything was just perfect. The service was exceptional. All the staff are obviously highly trained professionals, and are kind and welcoming hosts. A true experience!

We, one adult and two teenagers, stayed three nights at Monsoon Villa and we absolutely loved it! An essential part of the experience is the extremely attentive and helpful hotel staff! We spent a lot of time enjoying the private plunge pool. Two of the bedrooms have attached bathrooms, AC and are luxurious. The third one is also beautiful and cozy but can’t be cooled down as well as the two others. Breakfast was delicious and there are different options to choose from. Some things that are good to note: 1) There are no restaurants or bars nearby but there’s no need for them since the hotel restaurant serves excellent food. They often ask you to book lunch and dinner in advance. If you wish to try some other restaurants in Negombo, Pick Me app works well and also the hotel staff helps to book tuktuks, taxis, and any other trips. 2) The nearby beach is not suitable for swimming. However, we walked there and watched birds and saw some local fishermen drying fish. We also found the walk through the local neighborhood interesting. 3) There is a church on the other side of the river and some religious music can be heard in the villa but we liked it. The atmosphere of Waterland is fascinating in many ways and we already miss that. We will definitely be back if we ever have the chance to visit Sri Lanka again!

I had such a lovely stay at 3R Resort by Blue Bird. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming and very kind, which made me feel comfortable right away. The room was clean, cozy, and perfect for a relaxing night. The location in Negombo is ideal—peaceful but still close to everything. What impressed me most was the genuine hospitality; everyone went out of their way to make sure I was happy. I truly enjoyed my time here and would love to come back again. 💙
