It is recommended to take a day tour from Busan, but most day tours do not include the museum which is exceptional and really worth it. Gyeongju was kind of empty when we went, so it felt a little too quiet. If we go again we will opt for the day trip, however since we stayed 2 nights, we could see the museum and have dinner at an exceptional place which was highly rated for Korean food (again, which is not possible on a day trip as the buses head back to Busan in the evening).Guest review byDevyaniIndia - 8.0

I enjoyed seeing all the historic sites in Gyeongju. It was very busy when we visited as it was a holiday weekend. We managed to see most of the historic sites but would like to have seen more. Although there is a bus service it was difficult to navigate and buses to local historic sites seemed not to run very frequently. There was a city tour bus but this needed to be booked ahead of your visit. The best transportation was the small golf carts which you could rent by the hour. I wish I had another day to explore this lovely area, There are a lot of historic places to visit other than the site of the tombs. Some of the locations are not within walking distance so you need more time to visit them and one day was not enough if you are interested in the other historic sites. Ask locals for food recommendations as there are so many restaurants to choose from. The lobby area has a kitchen for guests where you can get water, do some laundry, cook/store food. The receptionist was kind and welcoming. The hotel is close to the bus terminal, so if you arrive by bus you can walk to the hotel. There's also a bus stop that can get you to Gyeongju Station within 30 minutes. During our stay we only saw Korean guests which I took to mean that they have a good name locally. Location was excellent for our sightseeing, and the rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. The alleyways around the tombs hide some nice cafés and restaurants, and there is also a fastfood just opposite the hotel and several convenience stores. The rooms are spacious and clean.
