We truly enjoyed our time in Kyoto. The city is beautiful, full of history, culture, and charm, and it was very easy to visit Osaka from here as well, which made our trip even better. Every day brought something special, from temples and gardens to food and shopping. Kyoto felt welcoming and unforgettable, and we know for sure that we will definitely return. I was told this was the cultural heart of Japan and am so glad we made it a part of our trip. A beautiful city with a casual, artsy vibe. So many shrines and temples - I wish I had made more time to explore. So many great places to eat! Gear Theatre's show was amazing! Also we enjoyed Arashiyama Monkey Park. We took cabs (easy to flag down or schedule with the apps) pretty much everywhere and saw so much of the city this way. I did not expect the crickets to be so loud while walking around in the morning but it was easy to get used to - sort of like the music that malls play in the background while you are shopping. Had the best sleep in Japan, the bed and pillows are amazing. They provide very cozy pijamas. The bathroom is huge and so is the room by Japanese standards. It is very close to the train and bus stations in a calm area, near a park. The hotel is quite new from 2020 and feels brand new.
