We had the most wonderful stay at Bastione Spasimo. Alex and the team went above and beyond to make us feel right at home. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer. A beautiful little oasis in the heart of Palermo

The staff was extremely welcoming and made us feel like we were family returning home. Personal, warm and professional with a lit of charm. We stayed at this place during our visit to Palermo and were absolutely delighted! The room is beautifully furnished—stylish furniture gives it a unique character, and the whole place exudes an incredible atmosphere that lets you feel the spirit of this location. An additional highlight is the rooftop terrace accessible to guests, offering a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The location is a huge advantage—the property is situated right next to the Palermo Cathedral, and nearby there’s a large square where you can park for free, which is a real treasure in Palermo. Moreover, the owners are extremely kind—very helpful, always ready to provide guidance, and attentive to guests’ comfort. Staying here is pure pleasure; we definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the unique charm of Palermo in comfortable conditions.

FAQs about hotels in Palermo

A Symbol of Sicily

Edgy and eclectic, Palermo is a symbol of all that Sicily stands for. From buzzing Vespas to the bustling Vucciria market, it simply brims with life.

Wonderful Palermo Cathedral glows radiantly in the Mediterranean sun. Nearby is the city’s last Sicilian Puppet Theatre, and opposite is a palm-filled park housing Roman mosaics, though the best are in the archaeological museum. At one end is the Norman Palace, a government building home to the fabulous Cappella Palatina whose gold mosaics are absolutely breathtaking.

Equally magnificent are the gold mosaics lining 12th-century Monreale Cathedral on the city’s outskirts. Wander the cloisters and note the varying columns and capitals – each pair is different.

Palermo also has fascinating churches: 2 of the oldest are 12th-century San Giovanni degli Eremeti and San Cataldo, each with red, Islamic-style domes. Gesú Church has an incredible Sicilian Baroque interior, while La Martorana’s frescoes are awe-inspiring. A street away is Quattro Canti, a crossroads with a fountain at each corner.

Other attractions include round Teatro Massimo, Mondello beach and Monte Pellegrino mountain overlooking the sea. You get fabulous views of this picnic spot as you fly into Palermo Airport before heading to your Booking.com accommodation.

Sca' vru restaurant was excellent. Ate there 5 nights. Beef filled the best we've had. Excellent service. Beach day trip to Mondello Beach was well worth it. But Uber there was pricey. Return by bus was easy and cheap. Open air markets were interesting and fun. Hop on hop off bus very helpful.

Palermo was a delightful surprise, a gem of a town.

Palermo was a delightful surprise, a gem of a town. It's clear that tourism, as we know it today, is still a relatively new phenomenon here, and there's much left to explore. However, that is also part of the charm of the place. Everything feels incredibly authentic; the people are kind, caring, and spontaneous, embracing the wave of tourists curious about what the city has to offer. In general, I found many individuals to be open-hearted and genuinely interested in showcasing the best of Sicily. The beauty of Palermo lies in finding a cozy corner, enjoying a nice coffee, gelato, beer, or limoncello spritz, and simply soaking in the ambiance. It's a wonderful opportunity to observe how simple and beautiful life is in Palermo. I will definitely be back.beautiful life is in Palermo. I will definitely be back.

We were there from 14th to 18th July during the festival of Santa Rosalia. The streets on procession night were blocked off and thousands of people joined the walk from the Cathedral to the waterfront. The atmosphere was great. Palermo has many beautiful restaurant areas.

The city itself is beautiful for its historic architecture: churches, theaters, museums, which makes Palermo a very charming and classic city. However, the city is very dirty and has a very strong smell that bothered us a lot. It is clear that there is no maintenance to keep it clean, especially during the summer holidays when the city welcome many tourists. There is a noticeable neglect in this regard, and this is very sad for such a beautiful and historic city.

I had an exceptional experience at The K House in Mondello, Sicily. Kim and Giorgia were wonderful hosts, providing friendly and helpful service. The apartment was charming, with thoughtful details and spotlessly clean. The rooms were comfortable, especially the main bedroom with its spacious bed and air conditioning. The location was perfect, just a few minutes' walk from Mondello beach and a short drive to Palermo. I highly recommend The K House. It was an amazing stay!
