Kollam is a beautiful tourist destination esp Thangassery and it's historical past with the lighthouse, remains of the fort etc. We stayed at Hotel Dfort, Thangassery, and our stay was enjoyable. The property is spacious and the roof terrace is a bonus. There needs to be a large sign on the property saying Quilon Beach Inn so it’s easy to find. It should be stressed how isolated the property is. You either need transport or you have to bring all your food for the time spent there. Also it’s incorrect to say it’s like a private beach. There is a locked gate from the property onto a small patch of sand and then loads of rocks down to the sea. It is accessible to everyone including the village dogs. The manager kindly upgraded our room as it was my girlfriend's birthday, and ensured we were well looked after during our 2 day stay. It was a beautiful location, with hammocks swinging in the gardens, and free kayak rental on the lake which was excellent during sunset. The breakfast was good too, and it was really good value for money. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and had their own private veranda.
