FAQs about hotels in Zagreb

Great Opening to Croatia

The only capital city in the world with a ski world cup race, Zagreb sits over 120 metres above sea level and boasts typical Central European architecture: cobbled streets, impressive public buildings and well laid out greenery.

Built around two medieval settlements with the Upper Town (Gornji Grad) being its core, the city skilfully combines modern attractions with well-established favourites. Start your day at the Museum of Contemporary Art, then have a stop at the Zagreb Cathedral or make a wish at the Old Town Gate. The locals say it will be granted!

For a more relaxing time, Zagreb features two lakes - Jarun and Bundek - both offering recreational facilities and hosting festivals and events. After having fun in the sun, you might want to hit the shopping at the colourful markets and small boutiques selling local crystal, ceramics and cravats.

To get a different perspective on the city, climb Medvenica, a mountain over 1000 metres tall overlooking Zagreb, and admire the views while sipping famous Croatian wine. And while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the Medvedgrad fortress.

Zagreb Airport is just 17 km and a short bus ride from the city. Whether you’re looking for an elegant hotel, classic apartment or cosy hostel, Booking.com has about 80 accommodation options for you to choose from!

The museums & art galleries .

The museums & art galleries . The ski lift at Sljeme is a must do ! It takes you up the mountain , from where the city of ZAGREB can be seen like a map . Go up the tower ( separate charge ) and the view is better again ! Tkalcica street & Skalinska street , are lined with bars , cafes , ice cream parlours , and restaurants , that cater for all tastes , from Croatian to Indian . No matter what your taste buds are , you will find something you will like . Transport in Zagreb is superb , and once you know what tram you need to take , you will be waiting no longer than 10 minutes for it

It felt dirty, outside of the small tourist centre and there was also lots of rubbish in the centre (drains/parks etc) People were friendly and the public transport was easy to use. Nikola Tesla Technical Museum was very underwelming, there was very little about Nikola Tesla. The main tourist centre was very small and easy to walk around in 2 hours. Impossible to find a Icitar heart to try (eat). Lots of smoking from locals was hard to move around the city without cigarette smoke in your face :(

Zagreb really surprised me, they've had a terrible time with war and a recent earthquake, yet the people were so friendly, we felt very safe. They have and still are repairing all the buildings to their former glory. Some of the architecture is just outstanding. The high street is like the magic mile in Chicago but better. Its good driving distance to the Plitvice Lakes which are a must see. We found a fantastic little seafood restaurant in the restaurant/cafe quarter just across from the Nikola Tesla Monument which I would highly recommend.

Zagreb is such a wonderful and historical city with so much culture. The architecture was stunning and it was good to see how well maintained the old buildings were. Loved my stay and was particularly fond of Ban Jelecic Trg. We're travelling on a budget and while we dined out tasting the lovely Croatian food, we also dined in cooking and experiencing the local fresh market produce. It was sublime.

Zagreb on the whole is a completely fine place to visit but there is an abundance of graffiti everywhere even on historic attractions and were extremely distracting. There was even an extreme lack of communication with the locals as few knew how to speak English and some were very unpolite.

    I liked Zagreb.

I liked Zagreb. The historic center is small and not as impressive as in some other European cities, which may be why (and because there’s no beach) many people don’t recommend visiting. But I think it’s definitely worth it! There are many museums, and the Museum of Broken Relationships is exceptional – I loved it. The city also has plenty of cafés and it’s quite affordable. Two days are enough to see most of the highlights.

New, very spacious and modern apartment in a good location. Convenient connection to the city center. Very friendly hosts - they greeted me with the key with a smile, answered every question precisely, took care of my comfort like the best hotels. The apartment is very clean, perfectly equipped above the standard for this type of apartments. I recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Zagreb and the surrounding area. I will definitely book again during my next visit to Zagreb.
