Gorgeous little town, with just incredible views. We were there in October, ans despite two days of dull, slightly rainy weather, we found it very charming. Lots of little shops to explore - though some were very expensive, to be honest. We had some great food here - the small restaurant on the seafront, La Familia - was our highlight. Really delicious traditional food. So good I'm going to have to try some of the recipes at home. The boat tours had finished for the winter, but it was still possible to hire a boat, or even a boat with a skipper. Vathi is easy to walk around, it's small and compact, and feels very friendly. I can't say that it would be wheelchair friendly, as a lot of the footpaths have cafe tables and chairs etc.Guest review bySileIreland - 10.0
Vathy is a lovely town.
Vathy is a lovely town. Very large yachting contingent so a little bit more expensive than other places but not by much. Some amazing restaurants - Mills, Soddis and Batis were all favourites along the waterfront.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Vathi (or Vathy) is beautiful.
Vathi (or Vathy) is beautiful. Quiet during the day and a little more lively at night as it is an overnight stop for the various yachts (both big and small). I have travelled to Vathi and the rest of Ithaki quite a few times. I adore it. Its compact size belies its facilities and sights. Very traditional Greek island, especially the main town with lots of harbourside restaurants. For a small island there is plenty to see from the lovely sleepy villages to the quiet beaches. Breakfast was all homemade with a wide selection and absolutely delicious. Antonis was on top of everything and constantly attending to the guests needs and always available. The lovely Katerina always at breakfast showing us such hospitality we have not known elsewhere. She is priceless. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for a stay in Ithaca. Nothing negative to say. The beds were comfortable and the shower was excellent. Views are stunning and the property itself is recently renovated and in tip-top shape.
