An absolutely magical secret of a place.
An absolutely magical secret of a place. I stayed here for two weeks alone while working on a writing project and it was perfect, although the house is definitely big enough for a couple and would be very sweet for a family of four. The house is surrounded by a lovely quiet road to walk on full of olive trees and a very ancient church. It is in a very small village that is pretty centrally located between both the north and south as well as west coast of Crete. The lovely little seaside town of Paleochora is just a half hour away and many beaches are within a half hour to an hour. Although Strovles is not a village with much more than a few part-time homes and one coffee shop, it is an incredible place for a peaceful retreat and is well-situated to explore if you’re okay with driving. The hospitality of Eva and Jon was also unmatched. They provided a truly authentic and welcoming experience, sharing many fresh foods from their garden, teaching me traditional recipes and helping me understand the Cretan country life. They are incredibly kind, helpful, and engaged though unobtrusive hosts and it was a huge pleasure getting to know them. I hope to come back!Guest review byAnonymous
