I have some dietary requirements and I was well catered for. To my surprise when I sat down for my first meal, the server already knew my restrictions from an email sent months before. I had tips and advice on walks including an idea of how I could hike the Samaria Gorge if it was closed on my intended day. I got lucky on my intended day. On the day of my departure I was waiting for the bus and was given a coffee while I waited even though I'd checked out.

It had a really authentic feel, unlike the touristy locations on the seaside. Nothing luxurious, but more than enough for a night or two when visiting Samaria Gorge. The beds were especially comfortable.

Konstantina and her team are just wonderful, super friendly and helpful, feels like being with friends! The rooms are luxurious for a good price, you're close to the street but traffic is hardly there and with the swimming pool and gorgeous buildings you're in a relaxed mood. Breakfast is served at the tables outside, with the same basic elements but always with small variations and extras (e.g. Greek yoghurt and honey, eggs, hot drinks), so you never get tired of it. Also, Konstantina gives excellent tips for places to visit and restaurants to go to nearby. Just perfect!

This was an exceptional apartment. The design was a lovely mix between modern and traditional style, with a huge verandah and beautiful views. It was very clean and comfortable, and had nice courtyard and pool. The town is tiny and we really enjoyed relaxing here. The absolute stand-out however was the fantastic restaurant across the road (run by the owner of the apartment), which served some of the best food we ate in Crete!

we stayed at Omalos Village to go to Samaria gorges. we were delighted when we saw the beautiful stone villa, surrounded by mountains, in a very calm place. we loved the big terrace with a view on the mountain. the house is very spacious, with everything you need inside. the owners that also own the tavern nearby are very friendly and communication was very smooth. we spent a very nice and relax time there.

Reading some of the Google reviews made me a bit nervous about staying here - but really, some of you just need to get out more. At this price point, I challenge you to find a better budget stay anywhere on the island. We actually really liked the "hard" beds as described by a few others - the firm mattresses gave us the best night's sleep in ages, so I guess that's a matter of preference. There may have been one tiny mould stain on the shower tiles, but overall the room was spotless, perfectly spacious for two people, and opened onto an agricultural/mountain view and the tinkling of goat bells. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful, and he happily drove us to the Samaria Gorge starting point in the morning. In a nutshell, this ticks the boxes for a hiking base or overnight stop, and we'd use it again when in the area.

Ideal (and only) place to stay to hike Agia Irini gorge as located right at the entrance. Bus will drop you off outside. Nice to have a restaurant, hosts were friendly, room was comfortable
