We took two rooms with different rate. The better one on the up floor with one big bed and one single bed was equipped with tea pot and had a big balcony with a table and tree chairs, pool and mountain view which we really enjoyed. (The door to a balcony included the insects net that was very convinient) . The hotel rooms were clean. The air condition worked properly even outside was really hot. The hotel has its own parking

Comfortable, ultra clean room with small kitchenette for snacks. Perfect location only 5 mins walk into Matala and use of pools in neighbouring hotels. The owner was so kind and friendly and went out of her way to provide everything needed. There is even a communal washing machine . Hope to return next year!

Paradise Matala is very well located. We have been here before and we can only recommend the place. Super clean, friendly staff, nice breakfast and a great pool. We booked a room in July and we could not come to Matala. We live in Crete, so we asked to come at a later date. Giorgos was so kind to let us come in October. Here you find real Cretan hospitality. We love it!

We loved the meticulous attention to the grounds of Hotel Coral - the lush, flowering plants and trees, the cleanliness of the rooms and pool. The Hotel is about a half mile to the village center and the setting with the dramatic cliffs and mountains is wonderful. The proprietor gave us a room with an oversize balcony overlooking the pool, complete with chairs, little table and umbrella, drying rack for wet bathing suits and towels. This is a quiet, low-key little gem of a hotel; a breakfast spread was available. We feel very lucky to have found this place. Eleni and Maria were friendly and attentive to all our needs.

    Matala is one of those places you didn't know you needed to...

    Matala is one of those places you didn't know you needed to visit until you go.. and then never want to leave. A long, sandy beach, with beautiful clear water, Matala is big enough to have a wide selection of places to eat & shop and yet not be too big. And in Scala & George's Yard it has two very, VERY good restaurants.

    Such a beautiful little seaside village that comes to life at night. Could have stayed longer and enjoyed the views, vibes and people. Also we found the pricing cheaper for food and drinks. I must stop

    The room was clean and relatively new looking.

    The room was clean and relatively new looking. There is no wifi or tv in room. They have wifi at the bar and should be able to get it to rooms with routers but have not bothered. The bed was a disaster, it was hardest bed I have ever tried to sleep on. My wife and I both hardly slept and had sore back in the morning. We have been travelling for over 5 weeks had no problem with any other beds.

    There is a great vibe at Matala that differs from the rest...

    There is a great vibe at Matala that differs from the rest of Creta. The hippie feel is true. We caught live music the night we were there and it was the best moment. This along with the red beach - strongly recommend.

    Matala is a tourist hot spot.

    Matala is a tourist hot spot. So a lot of restaurants there, lot of tourist shops with souvenirs and a lot of people. The beach itself is not that big, but it was nice though. I mean it really depends on what you are looking for. I am more fond of less crowded and less touristy places, so perhaps next time I would look for something more matching my preferences. On the other hand there is nothing wrong about Matala at all. All the people there are very friendly. Really it depends on what you prefer...

    Matala is a quiet little town with not a lot of traffic,...

    Matala is a quiet little town with not a lot of traffic, music or noise. You come here to relax. If you like naturist beaching this place is definitely for you (Red beach and Komos beach). Moreover, Matala can be a good base for visiting the area (you have to rent a car or a bike).

    Beautiful room with balcony, quiet and comfortable sleeping, fridge available, aircondition working, good cleaning every day, good breakfast, very friendly staff, 2 mins walk to the beautiful beach. Many restaurants and souvenir shopping nearby (handmade stuff also available). Matala is peaceful, live music in one of the pubs in the evening (hotel is located quiet, but central 5 min walking distance to everything)

    Xenios Dias is an excellent place to stay in Matala: easy to access by car, easy parking, yet right in the centre, just steps away from everything (mainly countless restaurants and, of course, the beach). The rooms are well equipped with everything a traveller needs, good bathrooms and balconies + a very helpful owner.
