Whether if you're a history buff or looking for an instagram-able location for your next selfie, the Old Town and adjacent Venetian Harbour are fascinating to walk around. The area is full of great photo opportunities around every corner, as well as cool little shops and restaurants scattered throughout. The more modern shopping precinct of Chania is in the centre with everything you may need during your visit. Public transport is cheap and reliable although car hire shops abound if you prefer to drive yourself. There are tour companies available if you want to go sight-seeing and let someone else do the driving. Make sure you visit the Archaeological Museum during your stay to learn the history of human habitation on Crete. Chania is a great spot to base yourself for travel in the north-west region of Crete. Where can I start, excellent Host Manolis .
Where can I start, excellent Host Manolis . The best caring host I have seen so far. Always helpful, sitting outside so no one blocks the driveway. There is a Mini Market downstairs and a coffee place next door. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms and the apartment are huge. Convenient to all locations, very helpful Manolis to tell you how to get there and where to go. I highly recommend this place near the beach, you can walk there. Will stay again when I go to Chania. It also has a bathtub and a shower separately, which is very rare, and a washing machine. It's exactly what everyone needs. The town is crazy busy with people & vehicles. We were surprised with the huge amount of tagging and the amount of trash lying about We loved the little hotel we stayed at - Hotel Chania - and the old town waterfront for meals, walks and socislising. We stayed in Nea Chora with the apartment right on the beacghfront which was ideal for a 20 minute walk to the Old Town. Buses there thogh were few and far between and we didn't seem to crack their routes or schedules. Taxis (when you could get one) were relatively cheap and we found everyone polite and helpful and the area not swarming with foreign tourist. We heard mainly Greek everywhere.Guest review byAnonymous
