We spent a wonderful week in a "Suite" cottage and would totally recommend it. The beautiful view from the large terrace is really unforgettable, tarrace has plenty of seating options and 2 hammocks to enjoy it. Thanks to the genuine cottage position and garden around you can enjoy absolute privacy on the terrace. We really loved the outdoor bath, quite extraordinary experience for us. The cottage is small, but cute and beautiful and equipped with everything you may need. Hosts were really nice and did their best to give us some advices in English :) Breakfast that comes with accomodation is TOP with new hot meal everyday and the BEST home-made marmelades (mango and coco-ananas we miss so much already!). The terrace where the breakfast is served you just never want to leave! You can also meet a cat (regular welcomed visitor on our terrace roof) and 2 very friendly cute dogs :) The most beautiful beaches are in a close distance (Plage de Grande Anse and Plage de la Perle - the nicest beaches we saw in Guadeloupe & Martinique), beautiful Botanic garden is also close.

Flight late so we were so late arriving. After 10pm. Host was so friendly standing on the road to greet us. Everything was very clean and in the morning as the host was working we met her adorable mother. We have no French and she no English but communication was great. Approx 10 minutes drive to centre Deshires. I highly recommend. Tip. If finding it difficult to locate house is just before the bus stop sign. Literally 2 metres.

The Gîte has just been renovated to a superb standard and we were only the second guests that stayed here since. Accommodation is bright and airy and the view from the large balcony is stunning! The kitchen is also very well equipped. The bedroom furniture is very unique and tasteful. You can walk to Grande Anse beach in 15 minutes via the coastal path, which is very scenic. Marjorie was a lovely host, very responsive , chatty and accommodating.

    If you’re a fan of “Death in Paradise” then this place is a...

    If you’re a fan of “Death in Paradise” then this place is a must see, it is where a lot of the series is filmed with iconic places like the police station and Catherine’s bar. It is a quaint, beautiful, small, unspoilt part of France. Deshaies has 7 or 8 independent restaurants/bars which seem to be open at different times, we ate in several of them, a small supermarket, a couple of gift shops and a corner shop. The beach is very small and sandy but you have other beaches very nearby like Grande Anse and Perle beach. The Botanical Gardens are also well worth a visit. From our accommodation it was a 10/12 minute walk into Deshaies down an extremely steep hill so obviously we had to go up this hill to get home, this walk would be difficult for those people who have walking difficulties, however, you can always drive down as their is a big car park which is very reasonable, 1 euro per hour.

    The town of Deshaies is a clean, quaint place with many restaurants, tourist shops and is a beautiful setting with a harbour. We visited the post office and local bakery which was excellent and always had a line up so we knew it was good. A little further up the road is the gorgeous Grande Anse beach. It's huge so it never seems crowded. This area is ideally situated for exploring further up the coast to visit other beaches like Clugny, La Perle and Les Amandiers which are picture perfect. We did take out at Cherry's Pizza which was superb wood fired pizza that was reasonably priced. Owner was super friendly. The restaurant patio out the back looked great for those who eat there.

    Deshaises is a quaint little Caribbean village with all the facilities needed for a quiet holiday away from the hustle and bustle. it has 2 small supermarkets an excellent bakery and lots of good restaurants and little bars. The setting is right on the beachfront which is a good beach for children and to watch the sunset. In our opinion it was the nicest village we experienced on Basse Terre, as it had a really good vibe and everyone was very friendly.

    It was fun visiting Deshaies as we’re fans of death in paradise. Basse Terre has plenty to keep you occupied with many quiet beaches, walking and water sports. With boat trips to other smaller islands. Deshaies has plenty of nice restaurants too. We had coffee in Catherine’s bar(madras1) and a delightful meal at le Cherry’s fronting right onto the beach. Great atmosphere great food

    Great little town, really picturesque.

    Great little town, really picturesque. It can get quite crowded but the buzz is enjoyable. Just make sure you make dinner reservations as restaurants tend to get very busy. L’Amer restaurant is a truly great place, we loved the service and the food and you get to sit on a terrace by the sea. If you want to go to Catherine’s bar from Death in Paradise series, it’s called Le Madras, and it’s also very nice. The fsns of the series can also visit the police station and some other sites from the series.

    Beautiful little fishing town with lots of places to eat.

    Beautiful little fishing town with lots of places to eat. The bakery/patisserie is fantastic, we got a fresh baguette every day and sometimes a cake or two. The beach is nice and safe for children as it isn’t rough like Plage de Perle which is about 10 minutes away. Worth visiting the botanical gardens and the zoo, otherwise just relax and enjoy the sunsets.

    Exceptional lodge, tastefully and functionally furnished. Spacious rooms, fully equipped kitchen - practically nothing is missing, outdoor barbecue, beautiful large terrace overlooking the beautiful tropical garden. Outdoor shower on the terrace. The location of the house with a large plot and lots of privacy is perfect, in a quiet neighborhood, 5 minutes walk to a beautiful long sandy beach with lots of shade, 2 minutes drive to the next beautiful beach. The town of Deshaies is a 3 minute drive away. We enjoyed every minute.

Owners are very friendly, you get welcome "gifts".     When I think 'studio' i think of a small apartment but this was lovely and spacious! Someone has clearly gone to a lot of troubke to think of everything, and it looks grear too. loved the big private courtyard and outdoor kitchen. next door to Deshaies jardin botannique..you could walk there in 5 min. lovely quiet location too. thank you for a relaxing stay. v good comminication too.

    Fabulous location with beautiful views from hotel rooms. Restaurant food was very good. Hotel was spotlessly clean. Loved the private beach and the beach bar. Gorgeous cocktails. Staff were friendly, helpful and engaging. I'm booking again for next year as there's so much more I want to see and do in Guadeloupe and this hotel is a great base.

    I loved my stay! I felt very welcome, the bungalow was very charming and I had everything I needed. The garden with swimming pool was a great relaxing spot. The breakfast was very good and also possible vegan. :) I will definitely come back if I'll visit Guadeloupe again!
