We enjoyed so much our stay. The Montparnasse area was quiet, you can walk at night feeling safe, very close to both metro and train station so you can get everywhere in Paris. The hotel is clean, staff very friendly, the breakfast is really good and the rooms are not so small. Haven’t tried the spa area, but I assume it’s nothing big as you have to choose some time slots, accommodating 10 pers at the time. We recommend it!

I lived in Paris 25 yrs ago and hadn't really been back. It was brighter, cleaner and friendlier than I remembered. The cycle lanes and green spaces are everywhere. People seemed less stressed (although it was August!)

Paris is a vibrant and historically fascinating city.

Paris is a vibrant and historically fascinating city. There is so much of see, so many museums and art galleries! I would advise booking for the Louvre and the Orsay museum. The Louvre was really packed and the que for admission long. One of my favorite activities was a river cruise down the river Siene, and using the Big Red Bus to get around made sight seeing very enjoyable. The use of the metro is also a good to use, although can be rather confusing when planning a journey, best to take one’s time planning a route!

    Paris is a beautiful city.

Paris is a beautiful city. Great to walk around, it felt safe and clean and lively in the main areas but we held onto our valuables tightly as pick pockets are around. There are so many cafes and restaurants in Paris and beautiful buildings. We travelled as a family of 5 (3 tween/teenage kids) and it was wonderful, easy to get around. We chose to stay in an apartment so that we could eat breakfast at home and make a packed lunch of baguettes to take with us, this worked out so well and saved us money too as Paris is very expensive. The Metro is easy to navigate but the ticketing system is a bit dodgy, we put money on the Navigo Card many times but it didn't register at the gate. The highlight was the Eiffel Tower and seeing it lit up at night was wonderful. The river cruises are a great way to get from place to place but walking is the best way to see the city I think.

    Underground are stinky and smelly

Underground are stinky and smelly Ticket office were helpful but the ground staff was very rude . They are very keen to issue fines to the goring traveller for any mistake . My niece did not touch her 4 year son’s ticket to the buggy passage area ( as the son was in the buggy and she only could touch her ticket) in the bid hakim underground and they asked for 70 euro fine although ticket was valid . When she argue they gave her 120 euro ticket and were very rude to her , threatening to call the police . The trains do not wait for the passage to get in safely and time to get into the train is very short . My wife got stuck in the door We did not have good food throughout our 5 days stay .

I would especially recommend a visit to Notre Dame de Paris.

I would especially recommend a visit to Notre Dame de Paris. I didn't go for any religious purpose but to see the restored Cathedral itself. I was completely overwhelmed by the craftsmanship and standard of restoration work, even though this work is ongoing and much of it cannot be seen. Visitors to see the Cathedral now can see it a condition that hasn't been seen for hundreds of years. The area around Montmartre is also very enjoyable for boutiques and if you want to see accordion players playing classic French tunes. On a negative level, use of the Paris transport system is hampered by the fact that you still cannot use credit / debit cards to tap/swipe in and out of public transport. I purchased a Navigo card on the Eurostar for £9.60. When I attempted to use it to enter the Metro from Gare du Nord, it didn't work. I went back to queue to re-charge it's balance with 10 euros (£8.72). Presenting the billet at the Metro barrier, it still didn't work so I then had to queue (for 30 minutes), at the Service office, to resolve the issue, where staff said it was a problem with the machine. This meant I was more than an hour delayed and I only needed to use the Metro to travel to and back from our hotel. Even Parisians I spoke with rolled their eyes and complained about this archaic system. There are scores of (mostly Africa-origin), hawkers selling cheap trinket gifts at all tourist sites. Whenever the Police show-up (which they do, a lot), they hastily pack-up and run. Be prepared - Paris is expensive, especially for dining. This wasn't my first trip to Paris but I wish we'd had more time, as I would love to explore and enjoy the city much more.

A beautiful city with plenty to do.

A beautiful city with plenty to do. Endless beautiful cafes and coffee shops. As someone who uses a wheelchair when i go out, it isn’t the most accessible in terms of public transport. We found the RER A and B lines were best but I did still need to stand from my chair and step on to trains and my husband would then lift my chair on, I realise I’m fortunate to be able to do this. For those who are unable to, you can request assistance but there wasn’t always staff on platforms so I can only assume that this would be very difficult. We came across many broken elevators too. If you don’t plan on using the trains, the streets are reasonably flat with many dropped curbs. That said, Paris is a very large city so you will need to use some kind of transportation - for those who cannot stand or walk at all I’d have to recommend taxis.

I’ve stayed at this hotel for many years largely due to location but given the amount of money that this place must have generated through the years it has not been reflected in updating the quality of rooms and common areas,It’s 3 star at best but charging 5 star money, We want to support and be loyal to smaller business but this place needs revamping not just patched up .It’s shoddy and disappointing , There really are no excuses for this given the level of quality accommodation you can get in Paris now for a cheaper price,

For this price level, the hotel is absolutely great. If you are looking for one of the cheapest hotels in this area and have 5-star expectations, then maybe it is better not to travel to Paris at all—or go to Le Ritz. I had a wonderful room in the attic, with a very Parisian vibe. The room was clean, the bed was big, and the bathroom was renovated—small but functional. The neighborhood is great. It is far from being a 5-star hotel, but so is your budget, apparently...

We were stranded in Paris due to problems with our flight. It was nice to find a hotel at midnight, which would fit into very modest allowance (120 EUR) of Air France. In that sense it was a good value for money. The location is good, with lots of options to eat around. Walkable to major attractions.

Room small but reasonably comfortable. Staff nice and friendly. Lovely little breakfast, although would have liked more healthy options, but I understand that in a small and relatively cheap Paris hotel, it would not be cost effectively possible. Therefore, it was very acceptable.
