Argeles-Gazost is a good size town with a range of restaurants and shops plus a big market on Tuesdays (food & other goods). Away from the old town there are supermarkets and other shops. Our favourite place to eat dinner was Cafe-Hotel Les Fleurs. The local bakeries were all good but Patisserie Vignau Jean had the most impressive choice of cakes and tarts. Another find was the microbrewery "La brasserie du pays des gaves" who offer charcuterie boards alongside a range of beers. We made use of the local busses to access walks near Gavernie (seasonal service) and Cauterets for Lac de Gaube & Pont d'Espagna. The hosts / owners are a real delight and nothing was too much trouble. They went to great extremes to help us and provide outstanding service. The location is just perfect in terms of natural beauty and being able to access all places of interest. Argeles-Gazost is a special place with history, character and. culture. Off-street parking was easy and free. Located walking distance to town. Staff friendly and helpful. We were there in quiet season.
