We only stayed for 1 night. But everything was perfect. We are still talking about the delicious food in the restaurant. The hotel staff was really helpful with our early check out, so we had a great sandwich and some coffee before we left the hotel in the morning.

We visited Helsinki for a conference and the accommodation was exactly what we wanted. It was close, comfortable, quiet, modern and reasonably priced. I can only recommend it. I especially liked their vending machine system where you could get food, drinks and even cosmetics non-stop.

I had booked an airport hotel as my trip was very short and I didn't want to spend too much time commuting but when this property popped up on Booking.com with a Genius discount I thought, this is a must-see! A major selling point was the free sauna, convenient location in the town where I had my business meetings and the great reviews about the breakfast. Upon arrival at Backby I was transported to a fairy like destination. The landscaping, the buildings, the air that was pure and fresh. Everything felt magical. I slept soundly in the firm single bed and enjoyed a superb breakfast buffet the next day! Even more special the sun was out in all it glory on my second day so I was able to enjoy breakfast on the terrace with a view of the lush Finnish forest. I sat outside for two hours in the sunshine enjoying a three- course breakfast of fresh berries with yoghurt, bread and pastries with sausages, and specially made hot chocolate! This place makes me want to return to Finland!

The green and fast developing city of Espoo is located on the shores of the Gulf of Finland. It is a popular, tranquil and laid back location for travellers visiting Helsinki.

If you’re planning a day of sightseeing, be sure to visit Espoo Cathedral, Espoo Museum of Modern Art, and Glims farmstead museum. The city offers great shopping option at Espoontori, Sello and Tapiola shopping centres.

    We stayed in Espoo for one night,then stayed four in...

    We stayed in Espoo for one night,then stayed four in Helsinki. It was the best way of enjoying the snow (being Irish it is a novelty )and enjoying the peaceful forest surrounding the hotel. It was a great start to our christmas break before going into the city. It was magical and I did a morning hike around the grounds of the hotel. My sons and I loved it.

    Espoo is the most prosperous and safest area in Finland. The reason for that is that 40% of Espoo's population has a university degree. The best area of the city is by the sea in the middle of nature.

    Buffet Breakfast was okay, staff was amazing and it's a great stay if you're going skiing or to the water park. The hotel is old but it doesn't feel dated, it feels vintage, it feels like new from the 80's. Gym is very 80's, i feel like Schwarzenegger when working out. The sauna was pretty nice, the rooms were comfortable. Great hiking trail around the hotel with a beautiful lake and wonderful greenery. The dinner at the restaurant was very tasty, the soup was amazing.

    Owners were incredibly welcoming and the surrounding area is a place of natural beauty. The apartment has pretty much everything you could want and is a short bus ride from Espoo central (where you can get the train to Helsinki). I had a lovely time and I would highly recommend staying here.

    The rooms are well-equipped and comfortable. The staff were very helpful. Very good value for money. Not a lot going on by the hotel in terms of shops and restaurants, but only a short metro ride to the center. This may be an issue for some but wasn't for me.
