What a find !Beautifully restored rural cortijo ..the rooms were decorated and furnished with excellent taste in simple shabby chic style ...yet with mod cons like silent air con . We loved the facilities and nice touches ..Nespresso machine with pods,water and milk in the fridge .Lovely communal sitting room /kitchen and terrace . The pool was fab ...cold and refreshing after a long hot day out .Great areas to sit in the shade and admire the views . Run by the on site owner " Montse" who eas quite a character ..friendly and unobtrusive ...but happy to chat We will be back !

A charming place full of history. Lots of details in the room made it really special. The breakfast is splendid... fresh and local produce. We also had dinner the night before and it was delicious. There is parking in the town.

Basic but large room with three singles. Everything was gleaming clean. Staff were warm and welcoming despite arriving at 3AM. Exceptional helpful. The weather was cold at night and the room was warm. En suite had a great shower and lots of hot water. Soap towels etc were plentiful. Had a fridge but no kettle, but we knew this before we arrived and brought one. The lift was great for my mum as we were on the third floor. Close to cafes and restaurants, not far from the town centre. Velez is gorgeous. A good blend of old and new.

    I went to Vinuela + Alcaucin with my 13 year old daughter...

    I went to Vinuela + Alcaucin with my 13 year old daughter for a competition, so our 3 days were mostly taken up with this. However, in the downtime we had there was not a lot to do. The area was sparsely populated and often felt like a ghost town with the appearance of the occasional old person. There were not many local amenities, and the supermarkets were very basic and sometimes overpriced (Arkwright's, Alcaucin). Maybe in Summer it is better as there is a big lake there, and maybe there are hikes. But overall a very underwhelming and slightly depressing place to be

    A great place to use as a base to explore the area.

    A great place to use as a base to explore the area. There’s the reservoir obviously. Some great and very interesting little towns in the surrounding hills with really spectacular views. You’ll need a car to explore the wider area.

    The hotel was in a very remote location, it would take 40...

    The hotel was in a very remote location, it would take 40 mins to walk to a local shop. You definitely need a car unless you are looking for a relaxation holiday. The pool was lovely and clean, the restaurant food was good and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our balcony was tiny just about fitted in two chairs and a table. Other balconies were of a nice size. I had a massage which was excellent and would highly recommend. We used the private spa for an hour which was average with fantastic views. Five days was far too long for us.

    We stayed around the lake area,only a short 15 minute drive...

    We stayed around the lake area,only a short 15 minute drive to vinuela itself.We also spent a couple of days travelling in to Tor de marre only a further 5 minutes down the well maintained roads.Our local village los ramanos was a perfect spanish village with a couple of "pubs" and a super market squeezed in next door to one.Vinuela itself though only a brief visit had eveything a city has including the market and carnival.

    Just about 40 minutes from Malaga airport, very restful. Nothing to do other than relax! If you have a hire car then you can venture to the beach, supermarket or nearby villages, or explore the lake. But it was a great place to relax and unwind. The food was outstanding, rooms smallish, but comfortable. Lovely staff, beautiful plants inside and out making it a really relaxing environment.

    Amazing location & fantastic views. We stayed in casa #1. The location was unbeatable & the house was on top of a hill making the most of the surroundings. Safe for dogs as the pool area was gated off & there were olive groves below the house for dog walks. Easy self check in with a lock box. Had a very relaxing weekend & all we could hear were the birds chirping. Great views down to Lake Viñuela & up to Comares too. Easy access to Los Romanes village.

    This hotel exceeded my expectations. It was so comfortable and warm. So important for the winter months. The Spa is small and private. Jose the Massuere is amazing. So healing. Everything about the hotel is special. The breakfast was excellent and the evening meal super delicious. The gardens very beautiful and lovelyviews of the lake. Staff lovely and very efficient. Nothing was too much trouble.
