Former hosts of the European Grand Prix, Valencians take their sport seriously and so they should. Try to take in a match at the 75000-seater Valencia FC stadium to experience the electric atmosphere.

The old town is amazing with lots of history and wonderful architecture. You can lose yourself wondering around the narrow streets to suddenly discover another small bar or restaurant. There is no shortage of high end restaurants in this city either. Lots of small shops selling unique items up to the Colon area with all the department stores and branded shops. You must go to the central market to try all the fresh food. When all that activity is too much you can hit the lovely beach with clear waters and miles of sand. A drink at the beach shack is optional but after a hard day in the sun there is a selection of restaurants to choose from. Valencia is a vibrant and super interesting city. Due to flight options we stayed for a week, and at first I thought it would be too much for us (parents with a 4 year old kid). We stayed in a hotel by the beach, and in the end the week was the ideal amount for us there. Malvarrosa beach is calm and clean, perfect to go with kids. The city center is beautiful and historic, the City of Arts and Sciences is amazing and the Turia Gardens is an oasis. I only wish I had more time to rent a bike and to have a nice bike trip there. I was in Spain for 14 days.
I was in Spain for 14 days. Valencia was nice for a 2 day stay. 2-3 days is perfect. Anything more would probably be too long. I felt comfortable exploring the city solo, however, mealtime as solo traveler isn't the best experience. Getting around to walkable areas was easy, but trying to catch public transit posed a challenge.
